Old quads

Somebody jump on this…

That guy Fred May is a flipper. I know the title is not in his name and who knows how many years in back fees it has. Price has already been dropped. Wouldn't trust a word on what he says. He has no history on the machine. Him and his buddy Chase McWilliams will screw you over if you don't due your due diligence.

That platform can be a fun little quad. My son and I put this together from a bunch of spare parts we had kicking around. Its a 300ex with a 400ex front end, 350x trike rear end (swing arm/axle/etc).

Its wide, short, and low.

Its the epitome of riding a slow quad fast.

I can see that. Like putting a 250sx engine and trans on a late 200x chassis.

15-20 years ago I picked up a 250R for a few hundred bucks. It was a pin-the-throttle kinda dune machine, too twitchy for the woods, so I sold it for $700.

It looked just like this. :/

I bought one of those in as good condition as that one is for $800 at a yard sale an old woman was having back in 2009. They bought it for their son brand new in 86 for Christmas and he lost intrest in it after a few rides and parked it in their barn. I cleaned it up and got it running mint and rode it a few times then sold it for stupid money to the local MX/ATV parts dealer when he made me an offer I couldn't refuse so he could add it to his collection.

Serious question, as you guys seem to love these things.

Why a 2 wheel drive quad? And not a 4?

I could never imagine buying one, kind of figured them as worthless if you were going to ride anywhere but the street.

They are light and fast compared to a utility quad . I have both one for around the house and the other for the trails and dunes I’m to old for getting on a track anymore.

2wd's are small enough to throw around if you get stuck, and they really don't get stuck all that much. And for most dune/trail/field riding 2wd is quicker and more agile.

We've had my brothers 350 warrior back in the woods way farther than it had any business being. The twist throttle was interesting in the environment.
