Another option. I’m lucky and just a hole drilled in the floor and the condensate will drain away. Nice sugar sand below the floor. My main ac for the house that’s all I did.

Question where does the condensate go for those on the wall mini splits?

Usually goes through the wall and follows the lineset down to the ground.

they got a hose that always seems to plug up with gelatinous mold
much easier to route away than the window shaker where they drain into a pan that the condenser fan dips into in order to gain some evaporative cooling on the condenser coil
Suppose you could pop a bulkhead fitting of some sort into that pan to drain it...

That makes sense then, before dropping the $ on a minsplit, cut two holes to the adjacent room and install some small fans that will exchange air to the adjacent room. This way, the heat you create can be dumped into the home so no heat wasted.

ooh this is the thread this was in...
What it is is my theater room. With a 1000w projector bulb and 3-4 people in it it gets really warm. It’s insulated and sealed to the max. It will go from 60-85 in there over the course of a movie.

I have half a basement that’s just storage where I would put the condenser. Winter time heat would go up into the above kitchen and living room. Summertime same thing but the big ac would knock it down.

The theater gets used 3x more in winter months than summer, and it would only run for a few hours at a crack. I would like it to be easy to use so my wife and kids can handle it vs me having to fuck with it also.

I know stupid first world problems.
you tried turning on the house fan before/during movie time yet?
the 'fan' switch on the thermostat, just flip it from "auto" to "on" and it'll keep the furnace fan blowing the air through the house continuously
works good when it is hot out too, to get that cool basement air up into the 2nd floor bedrooms

Summer no issue really. Its winter where the house system is a no go. With the wood boiler there is a 180 degree A coil burning hot in the plenum at all times. This is how I heat the house, I have a second thermostat that just turns fan on when the house calls for heat.

I could cut a hole in the wall and vent the heat out in the winter but that goes against my cheapness of wasting heat which will need to be made back up by firewood.

I haven’t hook the vents up to my house furnace yet. They just are hanging waiting to be hooked to something. Of course with my ocd I made 250 pound mufflers which the hvac goes through to help contain the sound in the room and not getting out into the house. There are only 3 holes in the room when my 6” thick door is closed. 2 hvac supplies and one return.

Pump is for the whole loop, or separate zone pumps?

thinking control the pump with the tstat
maybe a zone control valve if you're just running one pump

because adding a valve is way easier and less ludicrous than adding a mini-split

I just have one pump to circulate the water the 4-500 feet from the stove. Stove lines water heater a coil back to stove. Would need to make a bypass for the a coil. Lines need to keep moving or they could freeze up.

My Line penetration from the shop to house is not the best insulated. Had to come out the tin then down under ground. The footing beam is like 2.5 feet thick on the perimeter of the blue building.

shitty

actually, a ball check valve would probably do just fine for that, either orient it such that the ball's weight causes the pressure, or use a real light spring to get like a few inches of water pressure
just enough backpressure that it'd prefer to run through the radiator in the plenum but it'd bypass flow enough to keep the lines thawed with the valve shut

or hell, just a 3/8" pex bypass line across the rad without any checkball shenanigans to cause backpressure, 3/8" pex don't flow enough that it'd hurt heat output and it isn't like it'd be wasting any heat while running normally, everything that returns to the boiler just comes right back...

Recent 3 way poll~ :stirthepot:
Holchul 33.1%
Zeldin 33%
and the ****o got 16.2% :shaking:
Dunno If mudslinging but just found out Rep. Zeldin is buddies with the ****o?!?

Mebbe Harry Wilson might be the better choice in November? Wilson is a local good ol boy from Johnstown, NY-

Are we neighbors?

Just got a $600 property tax rebate check in the mail with a letter right from Hochul..... campaigning with NY tax dollars.

I work down in Gilboa. Grew up next town over from Johnstown.

This idea is gaining steam.

This goes a step further, and prevents you from replacing a NG furnace with a new one.
I bet they'll settle for "emissions control devices" on every new one that will make them cost twice as much and be half as reliable. My furnace is something like 94% efficient. how much better can we actually get?

electric heat here brings the fucking suck, and costs way too damned much.
not to mention that we're just burning NG to generate electricity.

i keep going back to them fuck up winter storms that knock out the grid with all the ice and shit is off for days on end, at least with gas you can still get heat or cook. all electric your just fucking out.

There is where you are wrong, it's not about increasing efficiency, it's about reducing emissions therefore reduced efficiency is an acceptable trade-off for reducing emissions. If you remember, that's what happened with diesel trucks...

Does this mean if I ever make it to New York I'm banned from passing gas ?

Isnt this covered by FOPA?

ah yes, burning more fuel so that we get less emissions, indeed
just like ethanol...

I HATE NEW YORK, sing it Irate4x4

Anecdote that just occurred to me.

What feels warmer - 70 degrees and overcast or 70 degrees and sunny?

Or for the northerners… February at 30 degrees and no sun or 30 degrees and sunny?

That’s how I interpret heat pump vs gas heat.

Not that it matters
-70* is fucking cold either way!

The **** is touting "I Love NY Black" tourism. She wants them to visit NYC in this criminal climate... When I was a kid, I went to the Dance Theatre of Harlem to see the breakdancing peeps. Now it's called Alvin Bailey's School of Dance.

I know, Cool Starry Bra.

BTW, we already have "I Love NY LGBTQ and AccessibleNY". Mayor Adams wants the gays & weed smokers here-

Well, shit... :mad3:

The **** had signed some safe haven bill for transgender youths. :homer:

The misfits can holler all they want while getting the tar beat outta them- :usa:
