What's new

My sister could use some help

Not too much of an update. She has been in and out of the hospital a few times again. She gets out again today. She still cannot eat. I would guess it will be a few months to slowly heal. In the mean time we will continue to pray for the best.

I think she goes back in for a checkup in a couple of weeks. Not much has changed. I think she has like 250k in medical bills now. :)

It is physically and worse, mentally, draining her.

It does help me put my simple problems in perspective.

My sister was flown from Marquette to Ann Arbor again earlier this week because of questionable blood test results.

After being there for a day she was able to have a popsicle. That made her happy.

After a few more days of tests it was determined she may be healing.

For the last 3 months she hasn't "eaten" anything. Even popsicles were off limits. She was given real food this morning. I think my mom said she had some fruit and granola or something. We are all hopefully the healing will continue! They are going to let her eat a little bit and monitor her for a few days. Hopefully back home soon.

The hell she does:flipoff2:
Those who botched her procedure have that, and a lawsuit incoming.
After she gets better of course...

If they botched it.... These types of complications can happen to the best surgeons in the world. People are different, and you never know how someone is going to react.

I was in the operating room yesterday and had something totally crazy happen that I never saw before. Infact I am going to call one of the docs I work with now and follow up on this poor lady.

Glad to see the sister getting better and eating!

Can you give us imaginary hypothetical details?

I really don't even know where to began to be honest. This entire situation sucks for all parties involved. I wasn't trying to be tasteless or necessarily defend the doctors, but I had just had a bad day at the hospital where a surgery did not go very well and there were complications. We all met as a team and talked about what happened and there really was nothing else we could of done differently. Everything we did was very standard for what we do on this type of surgery. This lady's body just reacted a little different compared to how everyone else has. I did find out the next day this lady ended up being ok, and the issue is not longer an issue but for those 12 or so hours it was weighing on me pretty heavy.

I do not know the doctors who are caring for this gentleman's sister, and I don't know if they are pieces of shit or great providers who care, but when I was writing that post I was sympathizing with them a bit. It NEVER feels good to have something like this happen to you.

Got a message from my sister just now. Here is a fun update for all you dog lovers. I really wish I was there.

It was reported. Dog was with some kid. Unprovoked. Just my sister and her husband on a walk in town.
