What's new

My next whitetail caliber

100yrds max plus coyote huntin screams low power scope to me. 1-4x or 1-6x. Shit even a red dot of some sorts would be plenty

Dont matter. Its pretty much the Kia Rio of rifles

1-10 is nice on coyotes, regardless of "short" range.

Thanks and I had too look up a rio. sounds about right for here. This is only the 2nd "rifle" season here, something with the straight wall ammo. I'm new to shooting so not really sure the reasoning behind it or who paid who or who didn't pay who but should be fun

Anything off the shelf to snag on sale or avoid?

whats the budget?
A few hundred? I don't know what I need. Was looking at suppressors for kicks and realized quick shooting is gonna get pricey

Edit: I guess I don't know what I'd regret not getting off the bat

A few hundred doesnt buy much in the way of optics.

That said for a cheapo scope I've been pretty happy with Burris. Something like this would at least let you get your feet wet without spending a pile of money.

Stupid collector market,

It’s a shame the previous owner didn’t neglect and abuse this till it was only worth scrap money

So for 100 yards out what am I missing out on with bushnell type basic set ups? I know myself well enough that if it's a good time I'll fully commit. I've got a bunch of stuff waiting to get fired here, was kind saving it for my old man hobby but I guess I'm on the back 9 already and don't golf

Looks brand new. Nice score.
44mag in a carbine is a hoot. Will take down a deer nicely.

Baby steps. This is "Mr I have only killed deer with shotguns" that were talkin bout:laughing:
Never hunted with the shotguns at all lol. Only bow since I was a kid and love being in the woods. I won an odd amount of guns over the years and got some of my dad's when he went but just haven't gotten into it. Really want to hunt birds and shoot clays next. Kids and work have kept me from doing too much and finally getting some free time back.
thermals got cheap though
and they're fucking awesome on a 22 for blasting squirrels and shit
anything you like out there? I was looking but the prices are all over the map. I just want something reliable and fun enough I won't regret not stepping up right off the bat

I got an atn rattler, iirc the ts25-384, but there's probably nicer shit out there now for the moneys
lower resolution wouldn't be terrible, if the 256 is still half the price of the 384

I get the most fun outta killin birds. Fill a deer tag for the freezer an then back to the birds:grinpimp:.

I know dick about a 350 legend but I highly doubt its a long range round. That burris I posted up is a solid no frills scope. Buschell and tasco dont need my money....

I'll poke around, if you see a deal somewhere I'd appreciate a heads up

It sounds like a blast and you are correct from what I hear it's about double a shotgun realistically so basically triple my bow so I'm excited about that but probably have to get off the ground now. It's like I'm fishing from a boat for the first time and not sure where to cast

I dont know what that means:laughing:

Haha I was talking to someone and typing that.

Shooting birds sounds like a blast.

I tripled my range for deason and am excited. Similar to moving to boat fishing from shore fishing, I'm not sure what equipment I need and what is overkill.

I'd stick with a 3-9 an have fun killin shit at 100-150yrds. Its not hard to get that close.

Then pick up somethin else down the line for the longer range stuff.

Can you hunt rifle with normal calibers, or is ot straight wall case as well

Looked em up last night, everything i saw was 1k! Cool but a little steep for now.

Anybody use these?

I have and use the bigger, older version of the Sightmark Wraith. Not a thing wrong with it. Smaller could only be better...
