What's new

Moon Rocks and lobster boy

Still wondering why people bring their kids to a shit show like that
Because at one time, it wasn't the same type of shit show. I would let all my kiddos crawl through the smoke line and up over the top. It's always been a blast during the day and we'd go watch the stupidity at night while the kids hung out in the camper.

I'm happy we only visited briefly this year. What a fuckin nightmare.

Got pretty good info that a firework was dropped into a used tube and it wasn’t a mortar, but maybe an m1000? It didn’t even try to launch so that makes sense.

Good lord.

1. Why would someone think to touch the blown off finger? If that guy is this stupid I wouldn't want to catch whatever else he has for being exposed to his blood.
2. Never going to any of these parties. Wanted to go to back door for KOH but I'll watch the videos from home.

I have too low of a tolerance for drunken dipshittery to consider going to an event like that these days. No real sympathy for the blow'd-up asswipe because stupid games --> stupid prizes; and I'd bet he won't learn a fucking thing from becoming lobster boy.

I have a (very weak) hope that group will learn to self-police before they get the whole area shut down. Not holding my breath, the idiocracy crowd just ain't great at valuing responsibility. Asshats ruin everything. Also, fuck anyone who leaves a place more littered than they found it.

I knew a surgeon wasn't going to put that mess back together. After hearing how it happened he was probably like, "you won't be beating off with this hand anymore". Kinda surprised they didn't just take it off at the wrist and call it a day. Explosions do a metric shit ton of damage to soft tissue.

Props to the dude in the closest jeep though. As soon as he figured out what was happening, he immediately jumped out and pulled off his shirt for a tourniquet

Lots of people think you should tourniquet everything.

I was told that you should only use one when you are bleeding enough that you may bleed out before you get to a hospital and that proper use of one would likely result in that limb being amputated.

Although I'm not a medic and this may or may not be a good use of one. I'm betting no though. Doc still around?

I've heard it different ways, but my default is tourniquet if it's dumping blood. I am far from a medic though. I figure in this case it couldn't hurt since his hand had already pretty much self amputated.

Shock tends to set in rather quickly and constricts the veins. Seen plenty of people lose arms and legs and barely bleed. Arteries will sometimes still bleed profusely and yes, a tourniquet can and should be applied. Application doesn't mean you can't save the limb if it is released and retightened often enough to not kill surviving tissue. In the military, you write the time the tourniquet was applied on the patients forehead so it can be released every 10 minutes but studies have shown that you can go 1.5 hours on legs and 2 hours on arms. Or that may be backward. It has been a long time since I have had to think about it and on my body, the tourniquet will be released every 10 minutes because I like my appendages.

I'm also confused by the hospital pics. They look like his right hand but in all the videos it looks like his left hand got blown up.

A lot of phones do it automatically where they flip the image. This really the first time you've noticed it?

Give it time, and more surgeries. May be surprised with what they can do these days.
I guaran-fucking-tee his ass ain't growing any new fingers and no surgeon is going to find some to stick back on there. Dude doesn't strike me as someone with good insurance or millionaire to afford multiple surgeries. He is stuck with a club fist and a partial thumb to stick in someones eye the next time he gets in a fight.

Maybe, or maybe they have fake hands these days at low cost available to most.
Still very curious to keep tabs on him over the next year or so and see just what they do with it.
