Moon Rocks and lobster boy

You laugh, yet I'm the one laughing with a sharp chain and my wallet $5 lighter.
To be fair they would likely charge more for a huge chain like that, but it's not one of my 99 problems so meh.

I don't understand how anyone could take their saw in to a shop for a sharpening. I'm touching mine up every tank, I'd be spending 10x more time driving than cutting.

It's more of a thing for people who have half a dozen saws and three dozen chains and just take a pile of dull ones to the sharpening guy once a month.

That's a lot of time spent taking chains on and off too.
Although I do enjoy taking "a trip to town" as much as the next guy.

The economics pencil out by a mile if the chains are big and in-house sharpening is going to happen to the tune of $20-something an hour and distract from more valuable work. Think like logging operation. Cheaper to just have a fuckton of chains you rotate through and drop them off somewhere Pablo will sharpen them 1/4 the time with a sharpening machine and his boss bills his time out at $16/hr.

Literally no logger is doing that, around here anyway. They have a box of files or an electric on-saw sharpener and sharpen the chain in the time it would take to change one.

Back when I lived in Maine and worked tool crib the guy we took all our endmills to for regrinding did a lot of chainsaw. They had one guy babysitting three automatic chainsaw sharpening machines. IDK what they charged but if other people were paying it must have been worth it. He said the loggers would drop off piles of chain along with blades (inserts I assume) from bigger machinery.

From fireworks mishaps to sharpening a chainsaw.
It had to go somewhere. We still havent had closure on the lobsterboy. Still waiting aftermath pics and reports other than "he's still drinking".

Now if I was looking at like 125 drive links I may be a tad sore and sad:flipoff2:

Interwebs quote 3120 @ 42" max
Seems light for 8 hp

IDK, I've got a 24" bar on my 046 and it feels like a good "/hp ratio. Wouldn't want more bar that for my uses without more than 6hp

Whatever work when needed, the 80 ish " echo works a 36" full skip well, I ferget what on the 42 cc husky
who has the 3120?

Where is our update? Monday was a few days ago. :flipoff2:

Had more than one roof leak this week, I’ll ask tomorrow for pics.

Sac had more trees into houses for once, not much happened up here. Crazy but there are still people in Alta Sierra that still don’t have their houses repaired from the snow a year ago.

I’m just wondering what the guy is doing and how life is going for him. Not sure I need to see his claw hand. I’m sure others would beat off with the photos.

I was never able to find anything about the guy since the sheriff's office didn't release his name. I've seen rumors that he's (was) a plumber and they were only able to partially save the thumb. But nothing for sure.

The old site would have had a picture of his house in a matter of days...

Maybe he will come out in a few weekends.

Edit: the Washoe county sheriff’s office did the investigation. Maybe their investigation is public record and they wouldn’t redact names.

Could have sworn at least one person in this thread said they knew him

I thought he was the heavy equipment operator and there was screenshots from FB in this thread. Not sure if it was for him or not.
