What's new

May as well ask here, what is the issue with IVF?

I see both arguments around it. I was born with crohns, and an endocrine issue. Insurance paid/pays for both.

If my wife or I was born with fertility issues, why should that be different? It's a medical issue after all.

But I also understand having a child is a choice and insurance shouldn't pay for elective procedures.

I don't see a clear cut answer either way.

Simple answer? You’re a citizen with healthcare current needs. If your sterile or pick a sterile partner (unknowingly or knowingly) then by nature or by god your not supposed to breed. You should be out of the gene pool.

Wait? Is ivf someone else’s genes in you?

One could make the argument, on that logic then, that if you're born with out a leg then insurance shouldn't be required to pay for a prosthetic leg.

I'm not saying these are my viewpoints, just that I understand the arguments from both sides of that coin.

i don’t see the similarities

You're talking about people accepting reality. That's just simply not going to happen.

I know a few couples without kids, 1 decided that they just get to fuck without worry.
The other has spent everything they could over 10 years for treatments with nothing to show but debt. They could have adopted several times, but always refuse because "it wouldn't be our kid".
I think nature has kept them from procreating because Darwin was right. :lmao:

What’s wrong with that? That’s the standard process for all embryo producers.
From trying to understand the left my understanding is this. The right is against abortion over all. And a fertilized egg, embryo, is considered life by the anti abortion right. So to only plant a few and dispose of the rest is being painted as abortion.

Not my opinion, just my observation.

I was wondering same.

Before we had kids, we had neighbors who were desperately trying to get pregnant. They spent a LOT of money on everything to try to get pregnant, including IVF (3 times). Once they tried everything the medical world had to offer, they went the adoption route (I was adopted). The adoption cost them a lot of money, but they finally had their baby.

Six months after the adoption they got pregnant the old fashioned way

College friends did the exact same thing. I remember telling them that the stress of getting pregnant is probably preventing it. As soon as the adoption went through, she got pregnant.

One of the factors driving people who want to adopt a baby (newborn or first couple months) to embryo adoption, is the prevalence of abortion. Pretty much anyone who doesn't want the kid kills it, so there aren't too many babies to adopt. The only unwanted babies being born are crack or meth babies, which requires a bunch of extra work and knowledge.

The only reason IVF is in the headlines is Democrats want to paint Republicans as being against it as part of the war on women. Remember how Mitt Romney wanted to make tampons, weaves, and coffee illegal?

Fix't. If your elective desires require taking money from other people, they're not a right. Same for boner pills or trans surgery - keep your whims 100% not my business, and it's nunna my bidniss.

It seems like both sides are engaging in political theater, each trying to force votes on the same issue.
