I need a stronger or thicker blade. I have ruined 3 gerbers. This one was freshly sharpened and lasted 5 min hinge cutting small beech trees. The other Gerbers all lasted longer and never failed this horribly.

Woodsman’s pale? Fiskars?

I like the "Tramontina Brazil" machetes that my local surplus store sells, but I've never cut hardwoods with them.

Maybe a machete isn't the best tool for what you're doing?

Silky Sugowaza shown here is one that I have. It's badass.

There's different teeth per inch available depending on types of wood to be cut.

Try a Kaiser blade instead for the thick stuff.

Heavier, longer reach, and gives you some distance from briers.
 
I was going to suggest a Woodman's Pal, but looking at the website, they've gone way up in price since I bought one for my dad a few years ago. They're well made and made here, but Idk that they're worth what they're asking these days ($185 and up).

I'll second the Silky Saw though. I have folder and like it.
 
A clean single cut is better/faster than a saw or chainsaw

It’s a soft wood but frozen. I think the glancing blows did it but I really don’t think they should have. Thin ****ty metal. I hit 0 rocks or hard wood with that blade and chunks of metal were flying.
 
Gerbers are the biggest piles of **** out there. My friend bought one with that ***got Bear Grylls on the package. It lasted 5 minutes before the blade broke at the tang. This happened while cutting down a small banana tree that was half rotten. Get a machete from Ontario knife. They were/are military issue at one point.

These are legit. You want a machete that's made by/for people who depend daily on a machete. Not some Gucci tier blade maker who had no clue what a machete needs to do.

You might want to try a thrown hatchet. Considerably lighter than regular but still pretty strong. I have one in the sxs and I've used it for cutting smaller things out of the trail.

Looks like a Sog machete I had. Bought one made in South America and its been great. Its one of the tools that if I’m buying it to use I will buy it from an area that still use them daily.
