Machete

Onterio Knife Company military machete. Nice piece that has lasted me for years. My old back 40 had woods on the fenceline, and I used one of these to keep stray limbs on the neighbors side. It takes a serious beating, even on hardwoods.

I've got one of these. They call it a hatchet but it has the thickness of a machete. Works great when used as a machete, I keep it under the seat of my truck and clear trails with it.

Poke, you chopped off your leg with a sharpened rusty old leaf spring yet?

:flipoff2:
So well, when a 40+ yr old IT guy swings an axe for 3 hours in frustration because his machete broke… apparently his fore arms and hands get so sore they arnt good for much.

So I haven’t bought a new cutting tool or done much but whine about not being 20.

I need a stronger or thicker blade. I have ruined 3 gerbers. This one was freshly sharpened and lasted 5 min hinge cutting small beech trees. The other Gerbers all lasted longer and never failed this horribly.

Woodsman’s pale? Fiskars?
I can make you one that doesnt suck if youd like.

You need a small axe. Husqvarna (26" 2 lb head) one is fairly priced, but comes with a poorly finished edge. This one still needs more finish work. Hand forged by Hults Bruk in Sweden, a little bit of a project to make it perfect. Smaller one is a Granfors Bruk (19" 1.5 lb head) again hand forged in Sweden.

Both are shaving sharp, husqvarna is a new addition and is my new carry axe when I'm felling. GB is my camping, canoeing, hiking axe. Takes the place of a large knife. I carry an ESEE3 as it's companion.

Had one from these guys. Used and abused the piss out of it. Lost it, then got another from them. Lives in the rig. Can cut small trees faster than a hatchet.

Machetes

I had this when I was a kid/boy scouts, thick & great for clearing trials on hikes. It was stamped "Made in England"
Something like this, no sheath. Made a loop to carry it in case of bear attack(s)-

this
I have had two of these

both I have found in the woods :grinpimp:
one was from when I was a kid, and I would make motorcycle trails with and I beat the **** out of it

One lives on the lawn mower for those pesky branches now

Get a corn knife. You can chop a redwood down and not break it

we had those when I was a kid at Grandpa's farm. I would like to have another but have never seen one for sale.
