Like the title says lets see some dashes and center consoles. about to start on one and looking for some inspiration

aftermarket gauges will end up where the current stereo mount is, there in the center. Speaker grill will also give up the ghost for speedo and such

Thought I had a better picture, but it gets the point across.

I despise things being wired in place. On the power box (right, above) you can see the two quick connect plugs going into the side...those are extension cables. One goes to the middle switch panel and one goes to the panel around the steering column. The three gauges in the middle have a plug on the back that connects to the engine harness.

(those 3 gauges are universal Holley ones, tied to the Holley ECU. They're on a can-bus so you can select any value you want to monitor, right from each gauge. Temp, oil pressure, voltage, rpm, AFR, etc)

Basically I can have all the electrical in or out of the buggy in about 5 minutes without having to do much more than unscrew the panels.

Tablet gauges and 2 warning lights for high coolant temp and low oil pressure. Redundant combo gauge in the floor

i like this idea, i think i will try it out also

Only stuff I had on my phone, pic on the steering was before it was finished. Inside the glove box is divided with my fuse/relays on the left and right side for storage. Top comes off to expose all the wiring and over hangs the face of the dash.

What app are you running?

Also do you have to start the tablet and open the app each time or does it pop up by itself?

Torque pro app with bluetooth dongle. There are settings in the app to force the device to go into sleep mode if the power is loss (key off) and wake up when the key is turned on. "key" is cycled at 20 sec in the video.

I like the idea of this a lot.

I'm not great at watching guages, 99% of the time it's fine. The warning lights are something I've always wanted in a buggy. The tablet is nice for being able to check things out if you have an issue without having 10 mounted guages.

Agreed. Plus, the app is an OBD 2 scanner, so you can diagnose any issues right there.
I wonder if you can make the whole tablet screen flash red as a dummy light to really get your attention, and not even need to add the warning lights?

RustyC how is the visibility in different lighting? Is it hard to read with a glare or too bright at night?

That's perfect. What tablet and case?

I used a CTS for this reason. I can set parameters and the gauge changes to red and flashes to draw your attention. Also I can scan, clear and change data display at the touch of a finger.

I am repeating what I did on the old Hydro buggy.
Dual SS enclosures
Liquid tight connectors for the wires
Mil spec sealed toggle switches
Autometer guages
New addition is the Blue Sea Bus Fuse Block from Kartek. Looks like a cleaner way to wire up all the fuses and power distribution.

The main reason for running the enclosures is they are sealed from debris and water. I see many dash variations that allow dust and water to cover all of the wiring and terminations, and gauges. Every time I open the enclosures they are clean and dry with no corrosion.
For those of you who think it doesn't look as cool as the wide aluminum dog house :flipoff2:, I find joy and satisfaction in knowing my junk is clean and dry.
I did have to use two boxes this go around as the window pillars encroach on the enclosure door access so dual doors provide more access than a single door that would hit the pillars.

Here's mine.

Passenger side indentation now has a sealed hinged cover on it for the two sealed Bussmann fuse boxes. One for the chassis side and one for the LS side.

The hole on the driver side is for the AEM CD7 digital Dash. The CD7 runs off the OBDII port, so it can display anything on the Canbus.

Tablet is an old Samsung Tab 8 2015 model or so my kids outgrew. Case is an Otter type I think or similar.
I wanted to try the setup and see if I liked it, well it keeps working so. I just pull it to pressure wash.

The gauges in the app can be custom set for a high, low or both warning. I have my coolant temp high warning set to 225. The gauge will begin to flash at 225*F and continue to display the actual temp if it continues to climb. If the temp drops back below 225*F the gauge stops flashing.
My settings
coolant high warning at 225*F
low oil pressure at 10 psi Seen flashing in the above video
low battery voltage at 12 volts Seen falshing in the above video

One of the other benefits of the app is the ability to check and clear diagnostic codes without needing any other tooling.

Note the GM ECM prior to 2003 will not display engine oil pressure.
