What's new

Laying Sod, how many pallets can I do?

There’s a grass alternative that I’ve been seeing a lot more out here lately, called Kurapia.

You plant plugs in a grid and they grow out to 100% coverage relatively quick. Requires less water than grass once established and looks really nice.

I have switched over to clover. More drought resistant and flowers for the bees

OP Not reading the whole thread... Did you install irrigation? Now is the time to do it! I did about 1/2 acre of sod back in New Jersey (yeah it sucked). I think I planted Kentucky Blue; but man did it look nice... It was crazy; killed myself rolling out sod because it was instant gratification.
The Irrigation system made it so fucking easy to keep it looking nice. I used schedule 40 PVC... Don't go cheep...:smokin::smokin::smokin::smokin:

i have my own fabbed irrigation. basically its inground 360 sprayer heads in a spike with a pass through hookup for the hose. daisy chain two together, adjust head spray, and go.

Laying down 8 pallets of sod in one afternoon is ambitious, but you can definitely make a good dent in it! It really depends on how fast you work and the conditions. If you’re in good shape and can hustle, you might get close to finishing, but don’t stress if you can’t do it all in one go.

When I did my new sod install last summer, I managed about 4 pallets in one afternoon by myself. It was hot, and I had to take breaks to stay hydrated, so I didn’t overdo it. If you need to finish up the next morning, it’s not a huge issue as long as you keep the pallets in a shady spot and water them lightly to keep the grass from drying out.
