Kaliforina slide into a major shithole

The California of 2011-2022 is over. Granted, it takes a long time for nature to heal, but CA is on the right track in my opinion. Major cities will continue to have major city problems, but there's a loooooooong way to fall before I'd want to live in those peasant flyover states.

Making crime extra illegal will not solve anything, we need to actually enforce the laws.
I thought this was a fun video with interesting responses to interviews.

 
I was down in the Bay area for work a few months ago and it was in pretty rough shape. We met one of the Oakland city officials at a nice restaurant for lunch and he was telling us not to get fuel by the airport because we would get robbed, warned us about a few other spots and while that conversation was happening our rental car had already been broken into parked right out front of the restaurant middle of the day with people everywhere (we had been there for 15 minutes at that point)

When I talked with the car rental guy back at the airport he told me that himself and each other employee at the rental car center see 7+ broken windows a day.

San Francisco was not much better. Half the stores in the Haight-Ashbury area were closed down.
 
Another story we got was when In & Out shut down in Oakland Newsum went up there for a PR stunt. They had cleaned up an area for him to get his photo op and do a speech. Later that evening after everyone left the area was already destroyed.

Rental cars are an easy attack.
Rental agencies put their markers on them so all the dirt bags know it's a rental.
A rental is normally stocked with stuff.

The spike in crime battering Los Angeles could claim another victim: Langer’s Delicatessen-Restaurant.
The eatery, founded by Al Langer, has been a staple of MacArthur Park since 1947. Unfortunately, rampant crime and homelessness in the area threaten the building’s legacy. A report by FOX11 confirms the suboptimal conditions the building’s current owner, Norm Langer, has been complaining about.
“It’s not safe,” the owner said. “It’s too many needles. Too much fentanyl. Too much drugs.”


“He’s not wrong,” the outlet reports. “Outside of the restaurant, the nearby park is packed with trash and violence. A homicide nearby was under investigation a couple of months ago where a homeless man dragged a dead body into the lake.”
“People walking around here taking their clothes off, walking around naked,” Langer continued. “You know, it’s nuts. I don’t want to spoil anybody’s appetite, but you’ve got a problem with defecation on sidewalks, for somebody was strung out on drugs. There’s something. They’re trying to make a score on fentanyl. They’re passed out on the sidewalk, and the city is lame and doing something about it.”

The owner has been fighting for better nighttime lighting and regular trash pickup as well as vendors being removed from the area, and isn’t happy that he has to demand the basics from his city.
“Why am I pushing this cart uphill?” Langer asked.

It'd be a shame if the place burnt to the ground and he took the insurance money and left. Just a shame.

With a Dem super-majority, they can do anything they want, until the Feds take them to court. I can see the Democrat fascists passing a law that states former residents that left California of up to 10 years ago have to pay a severance tax to the state. If it's a tax, YOU have to PROVE you don't owe it before you say, no it can't happen.
 
man, where is this california landslide lives in! looks rough! We got a new chikfila in gilroy last week, lines around the block for that stuff.

tons of roadwork rebuilding the roads and freeways have made for traffic (especially with the zillions of tourists here to see car week and go to the beach and see scenic monterey)

I work in a pretty poor area, but the stores around there all seem open...

Gotta go to Newport Beach thursday and I'll be in the Sierra National Forest on saturday... I'll have to lookout for all the closed up fast food joints!

Please make sure to tell everyone you run into on a daily basis how freakin awesome Cali is and that they shouldn't leave behind all that awesomeness and head to a shithole state that's nowhere near as awesome as California. The rest of the county thanks you for your service.... :flipoff2:

I am a native Californian.
In my adult life, I have lived in: Texas, Tenn, KY, VA, CO and spent tons of time in AL, NM, OK & OR.

All awesome places where I loved the people and the overall situation and never had a single problem moving through the world or getting done what I needed to get done. All of those places have challenges with people... poverty and all that comes with poverty. But, overall, awesome people and great things to do. Of course, the problems that do exist can be joked about or carped about and everyone alive can be teased or made fun of.... but, for me, I don't get all the 'this place is a shithole and that place rules'

I lived in a dry county in Eastern Kentucky, no big deal. I have to get a permit for this or that here, whatever. Figure out the rules of the game and go win the game and keep smiling.

The thing I NEVER did was live in a place and long to live in another.... once I was wanting to go to a new place, I did it. I never wanted eastern Kentucky to be California (but, I was pretty happy to find HIgh on Rose for mexican food back then!)

I'm a big believer in if you are part of a thing (company, state, town, organization) figure out how it runs and fit the fuck in. If I found I couldn't, I moved to one that I could.

Today, I get to live in a perfect place for me, that I love and that I fit in and it is just right. 1800 people, easy access, quiet, peaceful.

But, I still love all the other places I lived and a ton of the people there and I only wish them well. The problem with people 'escaping' to other places is they might move their shit, but they are the same fucking person... and they bring that baggage with them.

Left to my own devices, I am a happy person, and content, and I keep my eyes on my own paper and don't have a ton of expectations of others... So, when I move, I'm happy. When I get there--> I bring happy and easy to get along with. I WANT to follow local customs. I want to know how 'they' do it and do it that way.. otherwise, why go?

People who can't hack it where they are from are compelled to move on... they aren't really escaping, they are just bringing their blues to a new town... it is too bad, but it is a reality. We have had people move into our town and try to change it and we just smile... they'll leave soon enough.

I also don't get the hate. Fit the fuck in where you are and stfu or leave.
