Its time for a good old fashion OSR shoot out

Pawn shops are your friend.

Pawn shop guy was very not happy and rather shocked at what it sold for..... Very not happy:laughing: They had a $800 price on the thing, and had it listed as a 586-8, but its a -3. Dunno what that means though:lmao:

There are probably exceptions I don’t know about, but the dash for engineering changes is generally stamped with the model number. Sometimes there’s a double stamp if they have left over frames that can still be used.

I thought the S&W frames were milled, but I see investment casting defects. Nothing serious, but I’m surprised.

GBkeith has a lot of people scrambling for the revolvers, I'll bet . EVERYONE looking at their S&W frames now.
Mine is stamped "MOD 686" under the serial number (apologies, my potato won't focus on it).
The chronology does make sense, I did purchase it before any dashes were instituted (pre-'86).
Still have the original box, screwdriver and receipt ($301). Thanks for the information!

Also, that’s a drop of oil that photographed weird.

That oil spot does look like scabbing, but the gas inclusions are what make me say that’s a casting.

Like I said, not a big deal just a surprise.
