<Sigh> I guess that's what I'm doing with my afternoon.

If the horizontal bars aren't great I'm sure I'll figure something out.

I am sitting on a big pile of cross bars for old nut and bolt pallet racking that I might be able to make work.

Nothing a few cutting dics and a welder can't fix. 😉

90% sure I know the owner of this rig. If so it's always been cobbled together just enough to keep it on the trail but it's been all over the trails in Gore VA. May not be much to look at but it always made it off the trail.

overpriced but cool:

Picked up the pallet racking. It's standard 8ft teardrop crossbars. 2/4 of the decks are super light duty shit but easily fixable. The upright height is 9 or 10 feet.

you gotta make a knock-down rack for your front bumper
couple sockets welded on the bumper iron that accept 3/4 gas pipe, angle iron across at the top (also socketed to accept the pipe uprights)
it knocks down to basically nothing and lets you have a lot of stability when hauling 20' shit

Earlier this year I had 5x 14' uprights and "several" beams atop my shitbox
I don't take pictures of my shit any more because with everyone having cameras these days it is bound do show up with a face pic eventually

Seems in poor taste.

I've thought about various options but with a million other projects it's just not a priority. The need isn't really that strong for me because I don't haul a lot of floppy shit longer than 16 or so. Maybe if I find myself planning to travel far to get something that could really use it I'll get it done.

The design I keep coming back to is a frame off the front bumper and brackets off the A/B/C/D pillars I can pin the uprights from my baker staging into giving me an 18ft (2ft longer than car) rack that can be shifted forward/back by simply pinning different holes.

I take before and after pictures to prove my shit was tied down with more cumulative tie down than it weighed and that it was all still there when I got where I was going.

If the hapless idiot defense doesn't work you gotta go with the appeal to precedent defense. In the case of the latter being able to fill a binder full of examples makes my lawyer's job easier.

Arse needs a backhoe.

John Deere Backhoe 8 mounted on Geo Tracker. Backhoe has subframe mounted/ bolted to Geo Tracker frame.Backhoe works and operates fine. Geo Tracker runs fine, has soft breaks needs new battery and has slow leak in front tire. Selling to upgrade to a tractor. It looks rough but has done well with small jobs around the yard. You will need a trailer to haul away. Will not part separately. Serious inquiries only. Not looking for trades. Cash only.
