13s are kinda not really used for much any more
they're kinda only good for downhill sheetmetal welding, and providing an aesthetically pleasing appearance with zero skill and zero penetration
the slag is too heavy to see the bead without cranking the amps up to where the stub of the rod is glowing bright orange when you're done with the bead
