Impressive breaks/failures

That’s a $30,000 bearing. What kind of cone is that? Looks like a bearing bushing hybrid. Probably a stupid telesmith or jci cone.

I won't lie, I dont know. I stepped by to visit my uncle at the quarry and they were all gathered around it. I remember him saying it was ridiculously expensive.

I sent him a message and asked. If he gets back to me I'll let you know. Im sure its right up your alley kind of stuff

I got a 1 word answer when I asked. Terex
Must be this one.

Not a fan of the bearing design in that one. It doesn’t have much for a downward thrust load. That one that failed is about all it has for a downward load. Not very good imo .

When I was in the crane rental world. That was worth about 36 hours straight sitting in the cab at one of the local cement plants. Maybe trunions weren't that long but motors were. Don't miss those days.
36hr of watching pornhub on your phone if you're a union crane operator.

1st two pics of a final drive that went dry and ruined the final drive and duo-cone surface on a spindle of a CAT 563 compactor. Fun lathe work to fix the spindle.

2nd set of pics, Cat D8T, vineyard trellis wire took out the final drive seals and tore up the duo-cone seal surfaces on the spindles and final drive housings on both sides. Used my line boring setup to repair the surfaces, took some head scratching to make an tool holder mount the bearing holders properly. Wish I took pictures of it. Built some seal guards to prevent it from happening again. Not a cheap repair for the customer. The operator no longer works there…
Operator ignorance keeps me busy.

Yes sir, me too.

Operator ran the final drive low on gear oil and welded the center of the brake pack together. When that side stopped moving and the rig got stuck the operator filled it up with oil and acted like he didn't know why it wasn't moving......

This was this mornings clusterfuck. I was sent this picture last night and they were texting me what I think happened to make the support bend like that. You were there and I wasn't so how the fuck do I know what you did!?!?!? I'm thinking it had something to do with him pressing the override button when the mast wouldn't do what he wanted it to do instead of looking at the computer screen to see what was stopping him from doing something stupid. Totally preventable had he not pushed the "not so easy" button.

They always go till the equipment stops it self.

Is that from side loading the boom or just general operator abuse? That looked like it was about 1 more scoop away from becoming a way bigger problem than what it already is.

Its on a lil JD 160. That machine has been to hell and back with craigslist operators in it . It was cracked most of the way across the side next to the window as well.

Was used building logging road, not sure what actually caused it to break.

One of the 'ol boys said it was from trying to sweep boulders an stumps into the canyon. But I dont know...

This is also the crew that ripped a landoll lowboy trailer in half.

No pics of that for some reason lol

Also had a guy pulling on stumps hard enough, that he bent the stick on a brand new 245 bad enough that only 1 tooth would touch the ground!
