Hurricane Milton

This reminds me of a story I have. It’s not really for this thread, more suited to my other thread.

I will get it written up shortly.
Please do. I am afflicted with several chopper drivers as mates. I enjoy your tales.

Chicken Hawk is possibly my favorite war stories book.

Ahhh. Robert Mason.

Have you read the sequel, "Chicken Hawk, Back in the World"? It includes the story of him and a couple buddies sailing down to Columbia and picking up a boatload of weed. They got busted, but you already know that if you read Chickenhawk.

He was in a federal prison when Chickenhawk was finally published and became a best seller.

Finally have cell service. No Internet or power. The trusty mep-003 is running flawlessly. What ever generator the cell tower next door is running I don't recommend. It shut down about 8 hours in. During Ian it only lasted 1 hours.
The Wawa down the road had probably a 1.5 mile line. The Taco Bell had probably a 1/2 mile :lmao:.
The ground is still to wet to clean up, so glad I bought a grapple for the tractor last month. There is so much clean up todo. I haven't really seen any pictures yet of surrounding areas. But from what I seen driving around. There is significant wind damage.

Back down in FL, in the Orlando area you would not know there was a hurricane last week. It seems back to business as normal, flight was full- with lots of families doing Disney stuff.

Not sure what to expect for the show crowd, will find out tomorrow I suppose. Though the second day is normally the busy day.

i swear i heard a podcast where someone interviewed him and i cant find it.

All those flooded out cars will be dried out and shipped up north to the auto auction.
Insurance companies aren't going to ship them anywhere. They will be sold right from the local auction lots.
Saw tons of vehicles that either claimed water damage or didn't, but still had obvious signs that it was in a flood from FL and TX right after Irma, Michael, and Harvey. Used to have a few pictures from IAAI saved that had water lines along the interior door panel or the engine bay was clearer flooded and the description on some said said no known damage, no water damage.

Down here in Brandon and Bradenton area working on Cell Phone towers. I can't even imagine gettting around late last week without a chainsaw. The amount of tree damage is crazy around here. Fly back out on Fri but we will see if I can get to all these places I need to before then.

replaced 2 shingles and 8 ridge caps yesterday....roofing sucks...
lots of tree limbs and bamboo to clean up, silll in water so need to wait a few days to dry up , need to get it to the curb for the free haul away.

OUTRAGE: FEMA Workers Working Hurricane Milton Aftermath Ordered to Bypass Houses With Trump Signs

By Ward Clark | 5:25 PM on November 08, 2024
The opinions expressed by contributors are their own and do not necessarily represent the views of RedState.com.

FEMA is supposedly constituted to provide help to Americans in the event of disaster, natural or man-made. They are funded and their personnel are paid by taxpayer dollars, which one would think that fact alone should ensure that said help would be provided without condition or qualification.

Unless, of course, a disaster victim has a Trump sign on their house. It seems that a FEMA supervisor in charge of the recovery workers in Lake Placid, Florida, ordered them as a "best practice" to skip houses with Trump signs, per a Daily Wire exclusive:

A federal disaster relief official ordered workers to bypass the homes of Donald Trump’s supporters as they surveyed damage caused by Hurricane Milton in Florida, according to internal correspondence obtained by The Daily Wire and confirmed by multiple federal employees.
A FEMA supervisor told workers in a message to “avoid homes advertising Trump” as they canvassed Lake Placid, Florida to identify residents who could qualify for federal aid, internal messages viewed by The Daily Wire reveal. The supervisor, Marn’i Washington, relayed this message both verbally and in a group chat used by the relief team, multiple government employees told The Daily Wire.
Granted, the Biden administration's response wasn't all that great from the top down.

The worst part is that the FEMA workers evidently did what they were told.

The government employees told The Daily Wire that at least 20 homes with Trump signs or flags were skipped from the end of October and into November due to the guidance, meaning they were not given the opportunity to qualify for FEMA assistance. Images shared with The Daily Wire show that houses were skipped over by the workers, who wrote in the government system messages such as: “Trump sign no entry per leadership.”

This is unforgivable. Florida, now Ron DeSantis's Florida, seems to have been much more on the spot:

On X, the Daily Wire has the receipts:

But, odd as it may seem, there's an opportunity here for the administration of befuddled old Joe Biden to make sure his presidency winds down on at least one high note, and it's really pretty simple:

Find out precisely who this FEMA supervisor was and fire them. Fire them with prejudice, and make sure they are never allowed to be a federal employee ever again, in any capacity. Do it publically, so this jerk will have to explain him- or herself whenever they apply for any job in the private sector. This supervisor seems to have been willing to screw over American taxpayers suffering from a natural disaster because of their political opinions, so let's screw them over in reply.

It would be a hell of a good example to set, pour encourager les autres.

Firing him is not enough. They can find a charge. How about “election interfering”? They should also go after every low level worker that went along with it. In fact, every person that got that order that didn’t whistle blow it should be arrested.

FEMA official given the boot after directing relief workers to ‘avoid homes advertising Trump’

Politicized disaster relief prompted an investigation as officials discovered the latest example of “weaponization of government” allegedly left one particular kind of voter neglected.
Arguably a pivotal event in impacting the determination of voters to see the return of the GOP to the White House, the response from the Biden-Harris administration to back-to-back Hurricanes Helene and Milton had left much to be desired.
Now, according to a report from the Daily Wire, messages from Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) supervisor Marni Washington revealed a directive to “avoid homes advertising Trump” as part of their “best practices.”
Reacting to the concerning details, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) shared the message on X with the statement, “The blatant weaponization of government by partisan activists in the federal bureaucracy is yet another reason why the Biden-Harris administration is in its final days.”
“At my direction, the Division of Emergency Management is launching an investigation into the federal government’s targeted discrimination of Floridians who support Donald Trump,” added the statesman. “New leadership is on the way in DC, and I’m optimistic that these partisan bureaucrats will be fired.”

Responding to the outrage, a FEMA spokesperson conveyed how they were “deeply disturbed” by the “isolated incident” and expressed, “We are horrified that this took place and therefore have taken extreme actions to correct this situation and have ensured that the matter was addressed at all levels.”
“Helping people is what we do best, and our workforce across the agency will continue to serve survivors for as long as it takes,” contended the agency boasting of over $898 million in assistance to survivors across more than 365,000 households.
“While we believe this is an isolated incident, we have taken measures to remove the employee from their role and are investigating the matter to prevent this from happening ever again,” stated FEMA. “The employee who issued this guidance had no authority and was given no direction to tell teams to avoid these homes, and we are reaching out to the people who may have not been reached as a result of this incident.”

While FEMA asserted the supervisor directing employees in Lake Placid, Florida had been removed “from their role,” House Oversight Committee chair Kentucky Rep. James Comer (R) had reacted on X, “FEMA hasn’t fired this person…But the IRS has been trying to force IRS whistleblower Gary Shapley out for blowing the whistle! We must hold these unelected bureaucrats accountable.”
Similar outrage across the GOP, with many calling for firings, included a letter from Florida Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R) who sent a letter to FEMA Administrator Deanne Criswell demanding answers by Nov. 25, 2024, on when the agency became aware of the directed guidance, what measures have been taken to ensure supporters of President-elect Donald Trump had received aid as well as what steps had been “taken to ensure that this official does not behave in a similar manner in the future.”

In the tweets there are several politician types saying that the person should be procecuted for discrimination

we must consider as a primary causative factor in their potential eligibility for gubermental assistance the steepness of the slope of their roof
