What's new

How long will this log hold up the FEL?

You are probably not wrong.

Estes Park CO is half the problem. I'm sure I could have went down to the city and got it a bit cheaper.

Well doh! Dude.

Think there is a tubes n hoses in Loveland that would have had you out the door today at half the price. Honestly surprised they are doing it there and not sending it to Ft Collins.

Used to be Larimer county Mountaineers for a discount at NAPA but Front Range Community College is better. Never been asked for proof. Better discounts than when I ran my fab shop and had an account because it varies to volume.

Heck not even sure Mountaineers exist as a club anymore.

It will either hold it up long enough to fix it, or just long enough that it kills you, while trying to fix it

Ya man, I definitely know about them. It's been a minute but last time I was there the guy has worked there like upteen years as well.

But it was hot today and I didn't wanna deal with the heat down there. Call me a pussy :flipoff2:

Im courious as to why you can’t change a hose with it down. I guess it’s easier access. I would be concerned that the bucket doesn’t curl one way or the other and split the log. I like the “against the tree” idea.

It shouldn't be.

There's a couple bucks of bent steel tube, two $10-20 fittings, and a dozen bucks of bulk hose? Why should that shit cost $300? It's not like there's a professional running the machine that builds it. Half the time it's a highschool dropout. Yeah there's an expensive machine to pay for but a tire mounter and balancer cost more and they charge $10-20 per tire.

The fact that the price is so divorced from the value of the components that's going in reeks of "there is a better way to do this shit and nobody has figured it out yet because nobody has tried"

I bought a lot of hoses from auto parts stores before I found a shop that makes them for less than half the price. I don’t think I would order something like that online. Your garenteed to to have one fitting wrong.

Guessing access to engine compartment. My Deere is similar, any work on the engine is a lot easier with the bucket and arms out the way.

Yep. This hose goes from a hard line besides the engine to the front cooler. It would be a major bitch to install the new line with the loader down.

Looks to be high winds this afternoon. Hope it doesn't spark a fire...

His phone hand slipped while he was having a porta-potty wank and he accidentally pasted garbage.

If he doesn't show back up in a day or two someone should check on him and make sure the grader didn't run him over.

Just about any repair I make on a backhoe gets the loader in the air on the safety stop.

It's designed to hold it no problem.
I wouldn't test it by powering down but I'd almost bet it would hold it still.

And for future reference

Tubes N Hoses

In the old Ford dealership building. Grab breakfast across the road while you wait.
Is Tubes and Hoses a chain?

There's one here that does cylinder rebuilds. The Dad passed away and his daughter (i think) and her brother or maybe son run it.
I know the guy is real handy with a lathe.
Not sure if it's still open, buildings were for sale last time I passed by.

Years ago brought them a cylinder I couldn't get apart with a 5ft cheater.

She grabbed it one handed, and unbolted it in about 20 seconds while I stood there. Mentioned just putting some ass into it 🤣🤣

Ok well to answer the question of this thread: How long will that log hold the loader up? The answer is at least 47 hours. :smokin:

I installed the new main hydraulic oil cooler line and found out that it wasn't the only line leaking. Now the transmission cooler line(s) are leaking like a sieve. I'm not even sure the line I replaced was actually leaking but it had a big gouge in it so I don't feel bad about replacing it.

Luckily the transmission cooler lines are much smaller and should be cheaper...

At the risk of sounding like a dumbass you might check with a dealer and see what the OEM lines cost.
I wouldn’t recommend that for a Kubota. I can get better quality lines from a real hydraulic store for less than the chink garbage a Kubota uses.

Yeah I realized about half way through that thought that not all shit is created equally...

CAT wants to get more hydraulic hose market share and they seem to have gotten really aggressive on hose pricing.
I'm sure the XT6 shit is still $$$ but a common -8 hose is like $65 or something.

That is why I own a machine and make my own hoses now

Ditto...middle of a snowstorm I need to be able to replace most hoses.

I have used Pirtek once during a storm. Wasn't that bad, don't recall right off hand. They do everything but refill the hydro fluid.
