I know there is a thread here but search sucks donkey balls, today my MSA type 1 full brim hard hat is no longer good enough on the job site, I have to get a type 2 hard hat with a chin strap no less.:rainbow:

Constuction guys step up with what are you guys using.

New requirement for hard hats is the chin strap. They started rolling them out at my job as well. I have a Lift brand hat. Not sure the rating. Doesn't have a chin strap.

Edit: just checked, type 1

I bought 6 packs of the Milwaukee ones with company logo on them from Home Depot for around $100 a hat. The Milwaukee light etc are pretty good if you need it.

I also got my guys gift cards if they wanted to get something else. I didn’t feel like my guys should pay for changes to PPE outside of their control.

We work with the largest general contractors in the US and their insurance weenies told them to mandate these things on site. If you want to play with the big boys you follow their dumb rules.:homer:

Yeah, we have to wear the Milwaukee bolt hats, but who cares. EZ money

The GC at the job let me use a Milwaukee type 2 hard hat today, I liked that pretty good quality for what it is.

Don't want to skimp on noggin protection.

WTF. The site office engineering degree kids have been wearing them for the last year or so. We call those jobs kindergarten construction. I'm 55 and have loved what we do since I as a kid. I could do what we do til the day a die. The silly kid shit i have to contend with has me ready to admit defeat and go to work for a florist.

I'd be tempted to go get a styrofoam bike helmet and rock that fucker just to make a point:laughing:
I have a lot of leeway for shenanigans from my employees. If I have to field a call about my guy getting kicked off of a site for not wearing PPE I’m going to be pissed. I have better things to do than deal with childish bullshit.

Especially when I paid for the stupid retard helmets. :lmao:

You’re shitting me. What kind of work is this for?

We had a guy show up with an old aluminum hard hat. He polished that fucker till it was a mirror. Looked like a new years eve party hat:lmao:

Worked great. While the safety dorks were stroking off over that. We got some shit done:grinpimp:

On how to get kicked off the job site? Or not get paid? What's the point?
The point is not complying with the nit picking kid shit! Every new punk thinks they can make a new rule and claim they did something. All they've done is piss off the people that know how to do the work and the only ones that are okay with it are the rookies that don't know shit. Christ I'm old and screaming at the clouds.

It’s not some random safety weenie, it is the OSHA and safety compliance departments of billion dollar companies.

You better be king dick specialist for a 500 mile radius in whatever you do if you think you are going to get away with not following their rules.

They don’t care, you are not special, they will run you off the site and blackball you from all future projects. This isn’t the 80s When you get pissy and start trying to fight the safety twink they will call the cops on you.

Edit: in case anybody thinks I’m on board with this my guys don’t wear hats unless the site requires it. I personally wouldn’t give a shit if they worked in shorts and tank tops.

Oh... I'm fucking special allright. Fought the sillyness forever. Know the Pentagon safety guys by name. They start implementing new OSHA rules before they are posted. After contracts have been issued. It's a battle I've won more than once. I admit I've won battles but they've won the war. Did I mention I'm old?

No kidding. If all these "buh safety sucks " people put the same.effort into their work as they do whining about safety regs..

Onsite accidents cost a lot of money.

I work for Mt.Carmel ground stabilization, we do airports , highways , subdivisions and a shit load more, google us and see what I do.

Comply or you no worky, nobody will jeopardize a job over a knuckle head who won't comply with the safety rules.

Some people in some days can write their own rules. Usually elevator or heavy equipment mechanics when a whole site is shut down cause something broke.
. Did I mention I'm old?
That’s why I mentioned construction in the 80s you sound like my dad:lmao::flipoff2:

Any chance the company picks up the tab for the hat? If not, tell them you imaginary internet friend from California thinks that’s bullshit. :lmao: That’ll learn them.
