What's new

gymkhana

8 minutes of my life I will never have back. I dont understand it. Every last gymkhana is donuts and drifting and there is only so much you can do with either. Oh wait, they just the car a few times. Whew, that's new.

I wont watch it, have no desire to. Brap brap brap, donut, jump, brap brap brap. I keep seeing the one with the dent side pop up, and just keep scrolling. Might have been cool to watch when I was 12.

Sounds like hes a stand up character, the whole hoonigan thing is dumb.

The guy has done some super cool stuff that is for sure.

I watched one video of him in some third world country doing back flips off a 3 foot dirt jump in some little village. All the kids were loving it and he was signing anything they wanted.

The sketchiest one I remember was him back flipping from one factory building to another several stories up.

Crazy stuff.

He is a nut. That whole movie is pretty good. It's funny how they mention how the metal militia type was basically the norm in freestyle motocross. Tattoos everywhere, ect. Then comes Travis, "gosh, guys, I'm not sure if I can do that or or not, if I don't, I'm really sorry for bugging you" then proceeded to make them all look stupid.

The whole night terror thing is crazy too. My oldest son went through a night terror phase when he was a toddler, and it was really scarry.

You must be fun to hang out with.

Not only doesn't get it, but then has to come in here to say he doesn't get it and that were all dumb for being entertained

I liked that they were still tumbling and he asked twice if his Navigator was still alive.

:lmao::lmao:

The navigators are always the best. So calm.

"I'm fine, how are you?" Haha, those guys dont get enough credit.

The jump at the end was the least concerning part. Sure he's going 150mph but where I and a lot of people come from there are no good jumps and you have to be going at least 80 to get air off the track beds and bridges and we all know everybody doing that kind of thing is driving a shitbox. Youtube is full of teenagers doing similar. All those "I'm just gonna come into a corner doing 60, go sideways with 2ft to spare, and leave in a different direction doing 50" where the real butthole clenchers.

Some sled hooning

Kinda unimpressive. Having never ridden a snowmobile I'm pretty sure my younger self, maybe even now could do everything in that video with less then a days practice.... except the flippy thing because flips scare me.

This clip makes me laugh everytime, and is about the most michigan thing that could happen in a rally race:

Very fun to watch! but First gymkana is still best gymkana, more burble burble less braap braap. :flipoff2: when I watched the blue subi light up all 4 tires, pins and needles all over.

I like it. The jump on the road at 145+ was pretty legit and the parking job at the end was creatife.

Anyone else see the 2 gopro cameras fly off into the water when he went over the edge under the boat?

That clip is awesome.

Deer strikes when driving in anger are very different from highway deer strikes. So much more surprising. On the highway at 70 mph you are so much less focused on directly in front of you that you see them coming for what seems like forever before you actually hit the things. Driving in anger at 50mph super focused on the 2' deep whoops and the 90 degree corner coming up and you don't see the damn thing until its under your car.

Just had time to watch, two thumbs up. Has felt like the format was getting stale, but this was great, and not sure how they top this one.

Was at the rally at Steamboat when Travis rolled, and he was lucky not to lose his hand / arm. A reason a lot of rally guys wear arm restraints.

I ran a Cayman at Pikes Peak the first year of the GT4 challenge, and a good friend was running Travis on behalf of PMNA, actually Yokohama was paying the bills. So often we get hero drivers at PPIHC and they think they can tame the mountain, and usually the mountain shows who is boss. Travis was nothing but respectful, was eager to learn what little I could tell him about my 17 odd years on the mountain, and was so nice to every single fan that wanted a picture, selfie or autograph, regardless of how busy he was. Super nice guy, that is living in the body of a 70 year old, you can see he is in almost constant pain.

Was great to see him win the class, and repeat again last year, and this. Brings a whole new crowd of fans to the mountain. Cool cat.

I was extremely fortunate to be a guest of Subaru at the 2005 World Rally of Finland, one of the most outstanding motor sport events I have attended. Having the fellow who had run Subaru's GrpN program as our host made it even better, and drinking with Nicky Grist (McCrae's navvie, the Welsh Dwarf) was something I will remember a very long time

While they were no longer running the ouninpohja stage in it's full length, what they were running was very impressive, and boy do those cars fly (WRC had less than half what the Hoonigan car runs power wise). As someone who has sat in the navigator seat, and called notes, I am probably not quite right in the head, but would love the chance to run a full WRC stage with a driver like Loeb, Ogier or even Travis. Chrissy Beavis was the only one brave / crazy enough to sit alongside Travis for the US rally scene.

I'm bettin' those turbos were a bit hot when he backed it into the garage.

Then there are the WRC guys that do that on dirt, or snow, or pavement, or all three in the same race. Pastrana did some limited WRC racing back in the 2000's, but never really got to the top level. He did get a class win at Pikes Peak a few years ago.

Great video and Travis is always friendly when he comes to race. Just sold my sti and watching this makes me want another sooner than planned...

You've got 6 hrs to prepare. Get out there and kill it Mr Smith. :homer:
