getting classy chappy .... Class Act Fab Buggy *2

fox factory only - stay away from the performance series

2.5 if you have any plans on going fast
2.0 if you plan just crawling
Educate me....why only go Factory Race?

there is a huge price gap between factory race and performance , i think like 250 per coil over . and i asked the guy trent at poly today, and from what he said if i recall correct. one has a steel body the other the cheaper one is aluminum, and the valving is different if i recall.

and yes just crawling. i may beat down the trail and think i am going fast but i am not i see the videos of me yes not fast just feels fast.. ahhahaahahahah

FOX Factory Fox Shox 98002012 Racing Shocks 2" Coil Over Body 14" Stroke 7/8" Diameter Shaft with Hose Remote Reservoir

currently on the old buggy. i like these and nothing will change as far as use of the buggy. i may just go to 16 inch length is all.

factory has stainless shafts, better piston, and has standardization to give you some options (eyelets is the biggest one).
performance has chromed steel shaft, not eyelet interchangeability, crappy piston

i know accutune has done a few tech articles about them

And the aluminum is the newer design (Peformance Elite Series SHOCKS, not coilovers)...not as proven, and Fox will claim the finish is better if you live in a more corrosive environment (think road salts or near the ocean). I'm not sure that's really accurate as aluminum still corrodes.

I think the aluminum bodies are just on the oem replacement style shocks. I haven't seen aluminum bodies on the coilover shocks I don't think. The performance shock I linked above is plated steel.

Yeah...I'd read at least one of their articles....but I haven't seen one specifically on the Performance Series vs. Factory Race.

After talking to the folks at Accutune, the terminology on some of the articles gets confusing and this article:
Performance Elite Series vs Factory Race Series – AccuTune Off-Road has to do with OEM type applications...not custom ones (hence the Performance "Elite" Series) is about coilovers....but obviously not the custom application ones we'd be using.

This one discusses some differences, but only about the smooth body shocks: Fox 2.0 Performance Series vs Factory Series Smooth Body Shocks – AccuTune Off-Road

I haven't found any articles on Accutune's site specifically about the Factory Race vs. Performance Series coilovers.....but if you have a link, I'd be down to read up.

Thanks!

These don't seem that much more expensive:

Over these:

The race series is slightly taller though, by about an inch, which can lead to fitment issues depending. I've designed everything around the performance series and am not sure the race series would fit well.
Funny...pics look like the Performance Series (though the Factory Race one may just be one of the old images)....which is probably why I thought they were $499...not $433. For that price difference, DEFINITELY get the Factory Race.

hose is the give way. factory has field serviceable, performance is crimped.

smaller profile on the top cap as well for the performance

Right...I'm making a mess of this thread by talking about the Performance Elite Series shocks. Please disregard. Those are aluminum. Apologies.

good afternoon, no real progress beside spending cash. ordered some link brackets that will work for the chassis mounts. trail gear had a decent sale on bump stops so i got them.
i have mad plans to pick up the rear steer 14 bolt this weekend so pretty excited bout that.

i do think i have enough parts to keep me plenty busy.
chassis is completely welded. so next we are gonna start on the axles and link bracket placement. we will need to set the engine and trans and tcase back in to work around that.

any how have a good holiday break.

cheers

picked up that axle. and yes stoked to say the least. very happy.

but the next bad idea i have had is since i have to go 40 spline rear. and the price of 47 inch blems are so cheap its almost hard to not mull this idea over. yikes....

also ordered the tcase just now from atlas.

and it faily quick estimated timeline. too.

No real input here, but I've never really been impressed by how LTB's "work" on the trails here in the southeast. They look like they should work great, but personally never really been impressed by them.

Atlas wise, that is a quick turnaround. Hopefully they can stick close to that date instead of pushing you off until after KOH.

47" tires suck ass.
Stick with Stickies 43s.

40sp is the way to go though, no question about it. BKOR has the whole set for a reasonable price.

Don't do the 47s, go with the 43s stickies. I will eventually get a set of stickies for mine, mine will see more street miles so the harder compound of the 47s is ok.

Now if they actually made the 47LTB with the good US sticky compound they would be one hell of a Big tire.
