It is about time to replace my current DD (2010 Toyota Sienna with 192k on it), and I am thinking about buying a big car instead of another van or SUV. I've always liked big cars, but never owned one. I already own an older truck, so don't really want another truck for a DD. Back in my 20's, a buddy of mine drove an 80's model Lincoln Town Car, and that thing was huge and floated down the road. Unfortunately they quite making those in 2011. The Genesis G80 looks pretty big and reasonably affordable. I would be buying a used one. Anyone on here own one or have a family member or friend that owns one? I'm 6'2" with a long torso, so headroom is a big problem for me in many vehicles. Headroom on the G80 is listed at 41.1".

I found this one not far from me:

I vote keep the Sienna. Why buy a fancied up Kia?
Ready to move on to a newer ride. The Sienna was totaled by a rear end collision about 3 yrs ago. I took the payout from the other dude's insurance, kept the van and fixed it myself with junk yard parts.

OP, the Germans do big luxury cruisers like no one else. Fuck the fancy Kia...

I've been looking at the Audi A8L, specifically the diesel version. You can get 5 to 10-year-old ones with lower miles for decent prices.
We have a Q7 with the 3.0 TDI in it. Great mileage and so far pretty reliable. We havent deleted ours yet, but its on the chopping block soon. I just keep clearing codes for now. So far I know for sure the DEF injector is failing and consuming more DEF than it should and we've had a few instances where the DPF regen hasnt worked right and almost put us into limp mode. Other than the typical emissions BS its been a great engine. Maintenance is low key. Belts, fuel filter, oil. Oil filter is on the top and you can extract the oil through the dipstick tube, IE no crawling under the damn thing.

With an A8L I couldnt pass up the standard 4.0TT though:laughing:

Fair enough. I can understand that.
Time to built the ultimate utility van :flipoff2:

They are actually made by Hyundai, but same country.
Hyundai owns Kia as a parent company.

I look at their vehicles as a throw away transportation, sub 100k stuff.

Are you not able to locate a grampa owned Town Car/Crown Vic nearby? If you want a couch ride and space those are it.

2011 Impala that is at my house at the moment (moms car) meets your needs.
Save for the POS 4T65E autotragic it is a nice ride and a comfortable freeway cruiser (3.9 V6/LTZ trim).

I've worked on a few. I'm 6'4" and I kinda remember with the seat back far enough to be comfortable the B-pillar was in the way.

God damn clean that fuckin thing up before listing it:laughing::flipoff2:
I think you can't go wrong with either one. I was looking at the diesel for the fuel mileage.

I know, that thing makes me itch. A cheap detail does wonders for presentation.
Seriously, I know.

I told my wife to clean it up and send me photos for listing it. That's what I got.

Cleaning, waxing, and detailing is planned as soon as I get a minute.

OP, the Germans do big expensive way way overpriced stupid endless repairs like no one else. ...

Fixed it. No way in hell that Audi/BMW/Mercedes can compare to the Genesis by Hyundai for anything but snob dick extension appeal and losing days in the shop and thousands of dollars on repairs..

Agreed, It can't compare when its on a lift cha ching-ing. :flipoff2:

The way Kia/Hyundai designs and treats the owners of their 4 cylinder garbage that blows up, and the literal pile of engines in the scrap bin at every dealership is enough to make me never consider owning anything from that company at any price....they're trash.

Toyota on the other hand put a new dashboard in my 15 year old 4runner that I bought used with a blown engine (backyard mechanic induced) with 190K miles on it because it had scratches on it that were covered by a special service campaign. They can't build a mid size truck worth a shit anymore but they're still better than everything else out there.

I bought a used 2015 Genesis 5.0 in 2018. Very happy with it, reliable, very quiet, smooth, big, real leather seats, real exotic wood inlays on the inside and every luxury option you can dream of. Rear wheel drive, 430 horsepower V8, 0-60 in roughly 5.0 seconds gets 30 mpg @ 80 mph on a regular basis. Doesn't require premium fuel unless you want the full 430 HP. Smokes most Mustangs, Chargers, Challengers, Cameros, Raptor trucks, Lexus and most other European cars, and yes I've raced them all. After winning they usually pull up and ask me, what the fuck is it? I tell them you just got beat by a Hyundai. It's an absolute blast to drive, I've had zero issues with it except tires, I'd buy another one.
