Gotcha, that makes better sense now. Either a flap hanging under the gate or dump some gravel are the easiest solutions that come to mind. Can you get crushed concrete out there? Might be even cheaper than gravel if you don't care how it looks. In VA I've seen slate chips dumped on driveways, it was $200 a load back then.

This works great. You can mount tension springs on both sides of gate and tie hot wire to it. That way the hot wire would lay down when your vehicle runs over it, then spring back up.
Or just unhook it when you come in and out.
