Has anyone run full hydro with a ~1.75in ram on a smaller rig? Just bench racing at this point trying to put my parts list together. The axle is a tj dana 30 under a samurai. It would be nice to get away with the smaller ram but I don’t want to sacrifice steering performance.

What about the smaller shaft size? Is a 3/4 shaft going to be a wet noodle?

3/4 shaft is bigger than a tie rod on a chevy truck. Keep the tie rods long enough that they don't side load it much and you'll be fine.

I've done it a while ago.
On a samurai with 31s tires and samurai axles.

Worked great.

That’s good to hear. Trying to keep everything lighter and cheaper on this

Smallest I have experience with was a 2" on my buddies gutted Toyota on 37s. It worked OK, but my 2.5" on my Sami on 37s was way better.

I'd go 2" minimum, but really just go 2.25-2.5".

Edit: what size tire?

If it's small like 31-32s it will probably be fine.

I’m on 31s now. In the future a 35 sxs sticky will be the max
