Looking to get 3/8 frame rails, 10 3/4" x 3", 2x 30 foot

Local option:
1700 for both, A36 steel, 20ft and 10ft cut at 45 degree, will need to be welded and sleeved (figure another K for a long enough inner sleeves?

Vicon:
2500 per rail, one piece, 110ksi, will also need freight from Ohio

Between a rock and a hard place here. Vicon will probably turn out to be 3x the price factoring in shipping, but be one piece, better steel, and no fab, so despite the temptation, I am probably leaning towards that.

Its a 38k gvwr truck, not a dump or cement truck, only single rear axle

I don't know. Close to a wash with sleeve material. Freight would need to be factored against having to weld and huck bolt sleeves. I just paid $700 to have a reverser for my backhoe from Indiana to Utah. It was on a pallet so not apples to apples. I'd be tempted to pay the one piece tax to not have to **** with splices in the frame for rust to get into and jack **** apart.

No sleeve? Damn. Everything Ive read for official manufacturer procedure specify a sleeve or a glove, 11018 rod or dual shield of equal spec. But then half of youtube "truckers" are doing all sorts of hack **** like you wouldnt believe (granted they get ripped in comments) but seems to work.

No junkyard with a frame you can buy?

I guess worth a look. Plugging holes is better than splicing

Hows the A36 stuff dudes? I read some shops using it, but thats a waya off from 110k stuff that vicon and assuming OEMs use? Whats the difference really?

not as springy
more bendy and teary
on the plus side you can weld on it without pre- and post-heat and it probably won't crack

go with 3/4 instead of 3/8" and my hip-shot not even math works out to similar strength
little less than half the tensile, but iirc you gain a bit more than double in bending moment from doubling section thickness

who has 30' of contiguous 3/4" plate and a brake that'll kink it? who knows
the added weight is absurd? you're absurd

well, this task eliminted itself, a buyer came through. 2big bronco going up north, maybe youll see it around.

I bend lots of rail parts, and its always a36. Right or wrong, its what people order and are using.

Design and the splice is probably more important.
