Good Morning!
That's how people end up paying new list prices for half worn out junk...Good to hear you stuck with your plan.
Sometimes the 'fever' sets in and you just...forget all the rules That's how an auction works.

This!!!! I don’t buy it. That blue xtra cab short bed I confirmed has a blown engine. It’s minimum bid was $8000 with 180k on the odo. I don’t understand how anyone that makes money selling vehicles is going to make money on that one. They’re going to have 15K in a truck worth 15K.Do we really believe the email about the wholesalers paying that kind of money for them if not sold at auction? Some of those starting bids seemed ridiculous vs how trashed the trucks were. What the hell are these wholesalers doing with them that would turn a single cent in profit to make it worth their time???

Got my eye on a couple selections. First two. Wrecked one with lower miles and supposedly a good engine 2011 Totaled but interior is pretty decent (except where some dildo obviously swapped some old junky trim pieces for the nice ones). 2014 extra cab short bed with a blown up engine.
Winning bid $8,000, Fees were only 100 each so $8100 for the blue truck. Can’t be sure where they sourced an engine and the front seat. Seat for sure did not come from any truck on that batch auction. I’d still be pretty confident in them having at least 15K in it as it sits. Thanks for bringing it up, I love market updates
That's not much profit if they paid 8k, plus fees and stuff, do you know what the winning bid was? Or if it even sold thru that platform?
There has to be some insider stuff going going on. So these trucks are stored inside of locked gated yard, that’s inside of a locked gated compound. There’s two levels of ID card check in security you have to go through to get to the holding lot. As an employee I have a key card that checks me in and out and logs the time I go through any door or gate. First time I went to look at the trucks, the keys to every truck were inside the gas door and all the trucks were unlocked.I just now caught the post about "missing keys" and such closer to the end, I'd love to hear more about that.
Since 1000 people have unbridled access to the lot for a month before D day, I think I’ll just wait till the last day before I go look at anything. So as not to get up any unrealistic expectations. Everything will be different on the last day from the first so no sense in wasting the first.Sounds pretty plausible
I'm curious what your new strategy will be. A younger me would blow it up and tell the bigwigs that there was fuckery afoot, maybe get the office girl fired, ruin the whole auction thing for everybody, and get a target on my back for "unrelated" reasons. Nowadays I think I'd figure out who the shitbag is, and tell them I need in.
Yeah this is a BHPH “bring your W2 leave with a car” lot. My cutoff on it was 15K for private sale. You have to realize that lot will have a far easier time selling that truck for $21k than you would. Biggest reason is financing. Even small shit lots will usually do "good faith" payments. Plus there is also a lot of idiots that trust car lots more than private sellers. Many that don't even shop private sellers.
That’s pretty much exactly what I did minus the spread sheet. Today was the 4th visit checking stuff out. Because of the Covid madness there isn’t much treasure to be found. My expectations were pretty low this time but the dollar’s are a lot more realisticI know you didn't want to visit until the last day, but I'm thinking you should visit twice, day one, see what has keys, what runs, take pics of interior and wheels and under hood
Make a simple worksheet, take the same 6 pics of each truck
Then visit on the last day and see what's what, run your worksheet again, same 6 pics.
It would suck to be bidding "truck don't start" price on the last day, when on day 1 you could hear it run....
The other part of this, of course, is having your ducks in a row to expose the fuckery
Bid in odd numbers is all I got. Each truck has a vague description of problems and the interiors on all of them are trashed. To make it work I’d have to swing high enough to get both of them. If I only get one I’m stuck with one fixer upper or one parter outer snd no pair of axles in the end. I’m bidding against a pool of probably 1000 other people with the same relative skill set and idea. So I gotta narrow it down to two trucks and bid either high enough to guarantee getting both of them. Or low enough to not get either. What do think? Can I make it work like I think I can? Guesses on what they’ll go for in the end.
The ticker has been counting down for 2 days already and the whole lot has 0 bids. I assume we’re all smart enough to not start slinging bids on day one an bid up a bunch of junk. Got 20 days to make a couple selections and commit.
The OP was from last year but I’m bidding tomorrow 3/31 on a couple. There is already a bidding war on one 15 bids and current bid is $1,801 🤣Bid in odd numbers is all I got.
$3003 won me a 570 Ranger and the guy that bid $3k wouldn't talk to me for 2 years cause he thought I cheated.
Edit: day late and a dollar short it seems.
I used to do that on fleabay, would bid $xx.79 for stuff.Bid in odd numbers is all I got.

The one for $500? It’s pretty parted out. It’s a 6.7 powerstroke cab and chassis. The transmission and transfer case are completely gone, the engine is partially disassembled. It’s one I’m bidding on just because it’s so cheap. All I want is the axles and scrap the rest. What’s wrong with the 2013 F350?
I don't think I'd be scared of a pane truck, easy to convert back right?Laughing at this one. The propane trucks have always been the red headed step children of the lot. Honestly I don’t know why we have propane fueled work trucks but they’re usually in the best shape. The two trucks getting the most attention right now are propane only units.
Should be super easy. If I were doing that I’d buy two. The good pane truck and the gasoline one next to it with a hole in the block to get the fuel tank and lines out of. I considered that thought but everyone is battling over them so I’m out. All the half tons have bids on them even though they’re all useless IMO.I don't think I'd be scared of a pane truck, easy to convert back right?
