Its a horrible lifestyle Bigun, last I read average lifespan for a truck driver is early 60s.
my dad had a stroke in his truck on i-10 outside tyler texas back in 2006. another truck from the company he was leased to found him. I had to drive down there and pull the plug. it is a hard life.

I was told super easy first couple days, no real labor for 3 weeks, then light duty for another 3, then no real lifting until 12 weeks, and then to still watch it.

I was back at work at 3 weeks, on light duty, but getting in and out of the pickups, bending over, excessive walking played a role in my pain levels. I was sore doing most things. I worked outdoors then, lifted stuff constantly, I was a Land Surveyor.

Getting on and off the toilet was probably one of the most painful honestly. I usually pay attention to my fiber intake, but I made sure to eat extra to keep my poop soft.

My surgeon said inguinal surgery in men has a high recurrence rate. I took that to heart. Go easy, go slow.
hmmm thats quite a bit different to what he told me. said take it real easy this weekend, 2 or 3 days. lift nothing if possible. then i can go 10-20# for the first two weeks. then add 10# every week after that up to 50#. he said by then I should be back to my regular limits.

im back at work this morning. pretty good swelling and bruising around the incision and drifting down into the c&b's. I imagine at this rate I'll have legite blue balls by the end of the day. :lmao:

Nah, recovery is case by case. My Dr 1st told me 1 week of no driving. after Surgery he wrote down no Driving the 1st week and a 20 lbs lift limit after the 1st week for 6 weeks. after that back to flipping car bodies on their side raw dog.:homer:

Trucking was dad's second carreer, he retired as a city of Alb. fireman with the rank of asst district chief after 22 years. He and mom then made the epic motircycle trip out to Ca. then up the coast, across southern Canadaback down to Virgenia and home on thier 69 electraglide. First thing he did when home was buy a used Goldwing in his words "The Harley is great around town, but after a couple of hours my ass was numb." about 6 months later they went to work for NA, because as he used to say he could get paid to see the country, back in the 80s they didn't push so hard, they always had time to stop at different places visit family...

My brother drove with him for awhile, then he and his wife teamed up which was why dad was driving by himself. Brother quit to come home and raise his kids, but as soon as the youngest had graduated out of high school he rejoined his wife. They eventully went OO had a two truck company, before they died in 2022 in a crash.

Down for the count yesterday. Wrenched my back putting a plane back together and woke up Friday in lots o’pain. Had to go do payroll, then came back home and tried to do a little computer work, i just alternated heat and ice for relief. Tried to reserve a sprinter van for a Mt Rushmore trip, but damn these people are picky. I ain’t sending you experience driving a large vehicle. My daily is as big as your stupid van, and I’ve driven way bigger. Took some drugs and went to bed early, only to get the daughter call that they are broken down 70 miles away. Unload the trailer of fencing stuff and head out. Loaded them up and got back home at 3:30am, and crashed. Supposed to go to the rodeo tonight, but someone got shot at the county fair last night, so I think that’s up in the air also. When you don’t enforce laws, people do what they want. Around here they use f’n teenagers as trigger men so they won’t serve any time.

One of the first things my surgeon asked me during the surgery consult was what I did for a living.

When I was telling him about being a one man survey crew, humping the gear around, cutting line with a machete or bush axe, swinging a 12lb sledge to drive property pins, climbing in and out of man holes, a standard day of curb or utility layout or the like, I'd have the big sledge, a mini, a bull pin, those alone are over 20lbs, and I still carried spray paint, water, flagging, couple fist fulls of 60p nails, etc, he had told me I was high risk for fucking it up and eventually needing a repair.

Maybe there was some gradual numbers by week, but he stressed the 1st six weeks a lot. I think lots of guys just jump right in once the pain subsides some and get after it, then end up fucked again.

He also told me to be careful during sex.

I can tell you one thing, about week six, feeling great, I was aggravated as fuck with the helper given to me by project management, I was over his fairy tip toeing ass from day one. Fucking civil engineering major and was just in my way. But just getting through the woods day to day was a challenge.

I grabbed up a brush hook (he was mostly manual labor while I healed) and marched up the cut line where we were shooting topo, and he was struggling to lop off a couple inch thick branch that was blocking line of site.

I heaved that axe back over my back and dropped it in one big swing. I didn't say a word but I almost dropper my knees my groin burned so bad.

Hopefully you'll have a better experience, mine just stayed sore off and on for weeks and weeks. But as I got past four weeks, then six and got rid of twinkle toes, and had to do more and more hands on, I had constant little pulls, little bites of pain.

Mine made no mention of that.

Hole E Fook. The first 24hrs were ok. the next 48 sucked ass. balls grew to softball size and turned bruise purple. the ol' willie looks like a barber pole, bruising going around it top to bottom. and this damn pain in my side, lke you'd get from running or swimming. a cramp feeling. just constant.

feeling a little better today, dug out some boxer briefs to hold the softball in place(vs my reg boxers). trying to get a little done today in the office. phone ringing off the hook, nothing but monday problems.
