hmmm thats quite a bit different to what he told me. said take it real easy this weekend, 2 or 3 days. lift nothing if possible. then i can go 10-20# for the first two weeks. then add 10# every week after that up to 50#. he said by then I should be back to my regular limits.
im back at work this morning. pretty good swelling and bruising around the incision and drifting down into the c&b's. I imagine at this rate I'll have legite blue balls by the end of the day.
One of the first things my surgeon asked me during the surgery consult was what I did for a living.
When I was telling him about being a one man survey crew, humping the gear around, cutting line with a machete or bush axe, swinging a 12lb sledge to drive property pins, climbing in and out of man holes, a standard day of curb or utility layout or the like, I'd have the big sledge, a mini, a bull pin, those alone are over 20lbs, and I still carried spray paint, water, flagging, couple fist fulls of 60p nails, etc, he had told me I was high risk for fucking it up and eventually needing a repair.
Maybe there was some gradual numbers by week, but he stressed the 1st six weeks a lot. I think lots of guys just jump right in once the pain subsides some and get after it, then end up fucked again.
He also told me to be careful during sex.
I can tell you one thing, about week six, feeling great, I was aggravated as fuck with the helper given to me by project management, I was over his fairy tip toeing ass from day one. Fucking civil engineering major and was just in my way. But just getting through the woods day to day was a challenge.
I grabbed up a brush hook (he was mostly manual labor while I healed) and marched up the cut line where we were shooting topo, and he was struggling to lop off a couple inch thick branch that was blocking line of site.
I heaved that axe back over my back and dropped it in one big swing. I didn't say a word but I almost dropper my knees my groin burned so bad.
Hopefully you'll have a better experience, mine just stayed sore off and on for weeks and weeks. But as I got past four weeks, then six and got rid of twinkle toes, and had to do more and more hands on, I had constant little pulls, little bites of pain.
