What's new

FB marketplace “Hi, is this still available”

You can change that default message in your settings.

If you can’t navigate this, you are the problem!

First: they make it way too easy to accidentally hit the auto response button while you’re just trying to swipe. I’ve gotten return messages of “yes it’s still available” to messages I didn’t even know I sent.

Second, it’s a reasonable first question to ask. No sense in starting a conversation if it’s already sold.

No, it's not a reasonable question. It's a stupid fucking question asked by stupid fucks. :flipoff2:

It's noise in an otherwise productive dialog.

What if...you didn't ask the question at all?

Scenario 1:
"Hey when are you available to show this truck?"
'Tuesday'

Scenario 2:

"Is this item still available?"
'Yes'
"Hey when are you available to show this truck?"
'Tuesday'

FTFY is it really that big an inconvenience to you?

When 99% of the time those that ask that stupid fucking question ghost you and never respond again?

Absolutely.
So that means it’s probably this bull shit!

Which is touch screen phone issue that MP has figured out a way to take advantage of, not an intentional user issue

While i half-heartedly agree with everything you're saying, more than 50% of the whiggers who send that quip are the same people who can't be bothered to close a cereal box before returning it to the pantry. :flipoff2:

I ghost em right out of the gate sometimes, depending on who i think they are irl. I also reply with "no" at times, depending on who i think they are irl.

There's a tractor flipper here that likely sent those, until he realized that low balling at 50% ask was much more productive in the long run. :flipoff2:

You do realize people ask that questions on forums too, right? I haven't even looked on here and I am willing to bet some dickwad asked it on the for sale pages here.

It's easier to delete the message, same without ball offers.

Try donating it or throwing it away.

Every now and then I'll post shit for $100 to get it gone. Recently posted aftermarket JK bumper, flares, assorted shit for $100. Jackasses offered $50-80 so they're sitting in the scrap bin at work. Some of them got pissy when I said I scrapped them instead of taking their offer.

I’ve done the same thing.

Someone offered me like 200 on a 1000 dollar car. Told em I'd rather crush it than take 200.

Ended up getting down to 300 or something but didnt sell it to that fuck.

WTF is the purpose of replying to an ad with the canned reply?
I have some rims I’m selling right now and out of about 20 inquires at least half reply with the canned response, I respond then no further communication.
Is there a purpose to this? Trying to get information from me? What are they trying to accomplish?
Could be accidental bumps. I get messages once in a while from people about stuff I looked at just to see what it was and bumped the send button accidentaly. Its always from my phone so Im guessing I hit it while scrolling.

Selling a nice 09 Tahoe with 185k miles on it. Listed for $7k. Lots of inquiries. I've started offering my scrap heap to those who lowball me. This guy got a little pissed and left :homer::lmao:

I just block them and move on.

As others note, Facebook tard interns make it too easy to hit the send button with a default message. If you don't like that behavior, go shit in their sunroof and on their desk:flipoff2:

Personally, I have a bigger 'issue' with people not deleting ads and then getting pissed when I ask about the item.:shaking:

I've also ended up buying some items that were weeks old with a simple 'I know this ad is stale, but is it around?"

Sadly, I think more than a couple of reach outs were ignored because people think I'm a bot based upon the 10mm socket profile picture:lmao: One guy I did end up buying tires from when I said "not a bot. Map shows you over by <fill in area>'

Respond with the canned "yes it's still available" if typing "yes" and going about your day is entirely too much effort.

Not talking shit tbh. This is just genuinely how I go about using fbmp these days
Oh absolutely, gotta come on here fire up a thread whining about it. Makes one wonder how OP manages stuff that actually matters in his life?!? Can’t make any decisions without asking everyone’s thoughts on it first I spec.

Try selling a Japanese car on there. I get flooded any time I list a Honda or Toyota with tons of non-English speaking people. Bolivia, Afghanistan, Iran, etc. is what their locations say.

But hopefully that changed and I don’t have to be sketched out with selling to Habeeb from Pakistan, wondering if he’s an Aloha Snackbar kind of guy, or a decent human.

We need to somehow harness the middle aged man hate against "is this available" Powerful stuff.

(my daughter, new FB user, wanted to buy something and asked me should she just click 'is this available' button and I said NOOOOO!!!!)

I think the

"Scammers don't even bother, I know what you're up to!"

in the listings are starting to drop off though....

Do you think I should take this personally? I’m not quite sure what to think, any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

I really like the ones that spend days negotiation price, pick up location, and time only to ghost when everything is all set. Fuck you faggots. I think some people just for the rush of buying stuff but have no money. Must be like a alcoholic drinking a NA beer...

There are a ton of brokedicks in my area that do that.

Just sold my $30k+ tractor last week. I had at least 5 people make offers that I agreed to. None of them showed up. The one that finally bought it paid $3k more than those other offers. :shaking:

Fuckbook wants traffic clicks etc. Its a way for potential buyers to put out feelers without being serious and getting a one can dream dopamine hit.

Just reply back no, shes married.

Also, stop using fuckbook on your phone, delete that shit

Hey bro I know you were asking $1750 for that but my baby momma just left me and I'm living in my parents basement while I get my car detailing business off the ground. I'll give you a free detail and $350. We got a deal?
