you deform the end or weld/thread on a nut/washer or whatever

make it so that it makes a hole which is slightly larger than the rod, then you're only fighting the friction at the very end, rather than the friction of the dirt all along the entire length of the rod

the ground will collapse back around the rod to make a proper connection eventually, whatever no big deal

Short but long week in the books. Work was backed up since labor day was a holiday. On Thursday put in my petition at the Masonic Lodge. Wife and kid are in town tonight at a football game. I'm waiting fer my bro in law to show up so I can grill steaks. Anyone in the Flagstaff area that wants to be fed in a non romantic manner hit me up.
 
Just thought I’d share :laughing:

This past Monday, Mrs asked me to run to the store for a few things for our contribution to the camp potluck dinner. The local grocery store is a magnet for homeless and “others”. The store has a recycling machine near the entrance so there are usually a few folks around. As I pulled into the parking lot I immediately notice the baby blue Corvette. Then I noticed Spiderman.

As I approached the front of the store he was hopping around like a flea in a hot skillet. As I get closer he stops and (I guess) makes eye contact. I’m thinking I might be about to tangle with Spidey, but he steps away from the front of the store and thanks me for my service (wearing my Army Veteran hat at the time). He was gone when I left the store.

You never know who you are going to meet :laughing:

I only briefly observed one of the natives feeding plastic water bottles into the machine. I didn’t want to spook him so I went on my way. I’m guessing the machine issues the “recycler” a voucher for cash that is redeemed inside the grocery store. Maybe one of our Oregon members will enlighten us.

I'm winding down towards retirement and only at the office 3-5 hours a day. Been busy helping and prepping at the local ORV park for a big event this weekend. Just got home from a couple hour night run. Nothing hard, just enjoying poking around in 4wd. Next 2 days we are doing guided tours. I'll have the JK and buggy so could be boring, could be fun.
 
Couple of beers in

Replaced the drive shaft carrier bearing in my flatbed chevy today only to break a ujoint cap bolt by over torqueing with an M18 impact. :homer: Got new bolts and that still didn't fix the squeak this thing has when taking off from a dead stop.

Planning on a 650 gallon water run along with a few trim boards tomorrow.

Got out of work early, city threw the kids out of school early today because "its too hot" grabbed the boy and went to dad's to fix a rear brake on his F350. Passenger side **** all the drum hardware, chunks of spring would randomly catch in the drum and make terrible noises. Got that finished up right before a storm rolled in.

Got home and wife is canning pickles. 7 gallons of bread and butter to be specific. Finished that with her, now sitting in the garage drinking beer and water bathing pickles.

Tomorrow's supposed to be a busy ****er too.

I might get a day for myself by November :laughing:

I saw an instagram reel where the tweakers were stealing cases of water from the grocery store, dumping them out in the parking lot, then redeeming the bottles for cash (maybe vouchers, but i think cash) at one of those machines right out front.

Seemed like it was insane enough to be true.

I did notice that there is a lot less trash (cans / bottles) along the roads/streets in Oregon vs California :stirthepot:

Dang.... I would like to TIG weld a 3/4-7/8" carbid bit on the end of the sucker! ****ing rod in 45 miles away from my shop...:mad3::mad3::mad3::mad3:
 
In, obnoxious week, did 40mph on 87s for miles behindsmorons with their 4ways on cause it was more than drizzling. Did see a clapped and newly smashed Corolla n bound next to mangled guardrail.
