What's new

Everyone ready for the PNW Bomb Cyclone?

Power has been out since around 6:00. My hood usually takes a while to get restored so i'd guess we'll be out for a few days at least. Everything is covered in tree crap, so now I get to play cleanup again this weekend.

I'm completely cut off from civilization. 40 miles in either direction with trees down non stop. Got Genny fuel that I'll ration, freezers full of meat and fish so won't starve. figure it'll be about a week before they have the power back on here. Maybe 4 or 5 days till they get a route open to here. So much carnage, I'll take some pictures when it gets light.

Schools closed today.

My 76 year old mom is the survivor in her neighborhood in Lake Stevens, her power went out almost immediately when the wind started. Got the wood stove cranking just like every other day. Wasn't unusual to be without power for a week at a time as a kid. Cooked lots of meals on the wood stove.

north end of Whidbey. one of the higher points less than .5 miles from deception pass.

hardly noticed anything. very surprised to see all the power out on the pse map

so many pretty colors in northern California right now.

I think the state is turning gay(er) :flipoff2:

Interior of BC here, windy last night but nothing crazy. Enough that it must have rocked the trailer with the Argo on as the gps tracker gave me a movement notification.. Did not realize it was that sensitive

Got a little breezy at my house, 20-25mph tops, pretty sure I didn't even lose any branches of my trees. My mom is about 20 minutes away, she was one of the lucky 160 TPU customers without power this morning.

Trucks been on generator mode for about 14 hours running the house; lights, tv, furnace, wifi, computers.

Apparently I unlocked Cummins mode. :flipoff2:

Confirmed on the dash a few minutes ago too. Hopefully my fuel gauge isn't fucked. :flipoff2:

Shit.

I am driving home this weekend from Commiefornia.

My original plan was to leave Saturday from Disco to ID, but it looks like its gunna dump snow over the Sierras BAD on that day...

I may leave after work Friday afternoon and just hope it rains up at Donner. But then I have to worry about going thru northern NV and eastern Oregon at like 1 am.

I think Friday night is the big dump for CA foothills. If I were you I'd be checking the local forecasts for your path before deciding on that.

I have been watching.

It says Truckee is all rain until late Friday night. I can deal with rain. If I leave Disco at 5, I should be at Donner around 7pm or so.....

I live 1.5hrs to the coast on hwy 30 in Oregon and about .5 mile from the Columbia river.
Nothing seemed out of the norm the past few days.

I was elk hunting and we got a little bit of snow, typical amount of rain for pnw, and some wind and I was closer to the coast than my house.

So I was a bit surprised to see the news articles about this bomb.com cyclone:homer:

I was at Coos Bay one time riding in one of these storms
Tide was all the way up
We were all riding single file going along minding our own business and a wave just reached up and grabbed a guy and his quad and just took them out to sea:laughing:
He ended up floating it back, but that was a 😲to see it play out in front of you
