dodge alternator wiring.

working on this 1990 ram charger project again. I'm having a hard time getting the alternator to charge. we gutted all the emmisions stuff and were using a holley sniper/ MSD 6AL. I was curious if any one had any insight on how I should have this thing wired up. I currently have the blue and green field wires connected to the factory harness and they both go to the computer. I confirmed this with a multimeter. As far as I know this one controls alternator charging via the computer and not an external regulator like the older trucks.

After further research it seems that the answer is to switch to an older style external voltage regulator. Those are now in the mail. I’ll try to remember to update this. I really need to just make a build thread for this junk

I used this voltage regulator on a 89 cummins engine installed in a 69 power wagon. I don't remember the details too well but it was a 89 alternator.

I wouldve replaced the alt with a gm one wire in dodge clothing.

We considered that but we’re on a budget.

Yep… that regulator should do the trick and it simple to wire up.

Update. Got the regulator in and wired up. Everything is charging right at 14.8 volts.
