Do i want a springfied xd 45 5"?

Find a range where you can try some different stuff. 9mm is cheaper to shoot than .45acp and I don’t think you’ll die any more painfully when the bear eats you. I had a 5” m&p 9 that was milled to accept a red dot that I got on sale from galleryofguns. It worked fine but somebody offered me more than I’d paid for it so I never got around to trying a red dot on it. If you’re really cheap you can usually find a trade in Glock or m&p for mid 400.

9mm ammo is cheaper to get, and comes back first after an "incident". I have a G30 and a 1911 RIA clone, both in .45acp, but my goto(s) are my Sig and Beretta both in 9mm (and both with red dots) and my ancient Ruger MKII, simply because of ammo costs. Definitely get "something" with a slide cut too, after you try a red dot you will probably want one. Or go for that Desert Eagle in .44mag and spend almost a dollar every time you pull the G-damn trigger :)) (yeah, it just sits in the safe now...).

The revolver i just got is just a .22lr ruger wrangler.
Just a cowboy/western style and was part of a ducks unlimited bingo night. Nothing i would have paid for outright or use for anything regularly.

Yea thats a tackle box gun. I wouldnt spend money on one either:laughing:

Ive got the XDs in 45 and like it, I know different size, but It's never failed to fire and shoots a nice group.
I wouldn't pay new price for it, especially when you have something he needs.
X2 for me as well.

Shoots good, no issue, comfortable with it. No issue but hasn't been shot more than 200 rounds. Safety on back grip doesn't bother me. I'd think I'll enjoy the 5" full-size for similar use. Not sure I'd pay 700 for it when locally or buy for less without the drive. Needs more to sweeten the deal.

I will say, one of the salesmen that comes through the shop has an XD. He had a screw up with his reloads and ended up blowing the gun up. Sent the thing in to see if it could be salvageable with a letter stating that it was his reloads that caused the kaboom. They sent him a new pistol! I dont see S&W doing that

I decided I wanted a .45 and was thinking Glock 21, but went to a local range and rented one along with a XD Tac (5"), and a M&P. Of the three I shot the XD the best, so that's what I bought, and I have a bunch of Glocks. YRMV.

As everyone else has said, no way at 700.
Seems like my 45s just sit in the safe. P227 is probably my favorite. I really want to like my fnx45 tactical, but it hasn't seen the light of day in over 5 years. I shoot my 44mag desert eagle more. P220 is nice. CZ97 is really nice, so nice I don't want to scratch it.
For a range toy 9mm is just more fun and practical.

Definitely visit a few gun stores and handle different guns before buying. I have large hands and can grip about anything, but even beyond hand size there are a lot of other variables.

44mag is legit, I shoot alot of it. But also one of those calibers you have to load for. Soon as we figured out we could shoot it cheaper than the 17hmr, we started using the 44's for squirrel shootin:laughing: Lots o fun

The desert eagle is huge! I wanted one after shooting one, but it was all I could do to hold the stupid thing.

Really, what you need is a Glock&Wessfield full size 9mm. Then maybe a Blackhawk in .44 mag. Then a compact 9mm or possibly .380. Somewhere in there a .22.

XDs don't have great resale. They are kinda the redheaded stepchild/redneck version of the plastic guns. Nothing wrong with them, but nothing that makes them worth any more than a generic tupperware. While 45 is more desirable than 40, its slower to move than 9 due to ammo costs.

As a point of reference - one of my distributors (FFL only) sells police trade in XD45 with 3 mags for under $300 when they are available. They sell at that price and most dealers are going to put them out for ~$400

If I was going to keep it, worth about $400. If to resell I wouldn't give more than 300 and expect that it might sit for a while

Not taking the trade

Cant buy anything atm because ca has a 30day between handgun purchases rule and i picked up a .22lr revolver on the 10th.
Did the rules change? I thought that "private transfers" were exempt.

Oregon wants all private sales to go through an FFL now as well. It seems that my definition of private sale is a little different than the states...

Suckremento "thinks" we have ZERO free will.
Yet they have armed guards WE PAY FOR...
OP'S trade ain't balancing out for him so no loss adhering to the commie law this time:flipoff:

I bought something a while back. Guy asked me if I promised not to do anything bad with it LOL that was the background check:lmao:

Haven't shot one in 50ae yet. Glad mine is in 44 which I already have for my Smith and marlin.
Took a bit to find ammo it likes, but she runs like a top now. Softer shooting them my 629. Not saying I would use it as a ccw, or even an open carry piece, but it is fun.
Total newb, since commiefornia will only let you have 10 rounds, might as well make them really big rounds. Get a desert eagle.

Ive shot a de 50ae.

Its fun and funny to shoot. When that slide slams forwards and draws the barrel right back down on target its definately different.

That was mine when I got it. changed out all the springs. then it would jam once every mag. Found that Sellier and Bellot 44 mag ammo makes it run. Haven't had a jam in about 150 rounds with it. Bought a bunch of it when I found it worked so well.

I didnt get a chance to really mess with it. Was more of a "here shoot this big bitch while I burn up all yer 243 ammo"
