guy wants to trade me one (legaly) for a transmission.

He says he paid $700 for it which is close to what the trans $. Online $ show $550-600 but his has 2 mags and taxtfees already so thats prob a push on the $.

Im not a big/large pistol guy and i have really liked the glock and hk compact 9mm for fit and firing.

Watched a few review vids and of coarse they always love what ever theyre reviewing. But noise recoil and overall size i think its more than what i want. $ is also more than what i think i would spend as well.

I have two xd’s, both are 4”. One is a 9mm and the other is .357 sig. they’re reliable as all get out but nothing super special. They do have the back strap safety. Isn’t really that noticeable butnsome hate it. I paid $400 and $450 for mine. It’d prob be a good gun for property use or camping.

What he paid for it means jack shit. And he is the one that needs a transmission:grinpimp:

Tell him the gun and $200 or kick rocks.

Full size pistols are slowly growing on me. They are just so easy to shoot:smokin:

Big fat and slow
= 45

Skinny lil zippy bitch
=9mm

Perhaps you can shoot it first?
I love my 45's
The 1911 loaded is my favorite.
But I carry the plastic fantastic g36.

Hipo 9mm now hits as hard as a 45...
Do you need it?

Not really. I wanted the trans for myself but was being tight gripped on the money.

I bought a part off of another kid and he said he needed said transmission.

I offered said transmission to him since i didnt want to spend the $ in the first place.

Transmission seller brings it to me to get to kid. Time lines havent worked out to get to kid and get $ to give to seller. Im just going to pay seller so he gets paid and worst case is i get stuck with the transmissiin i wanted in the first place.

Kid offers pistol in very nice condition since he hasnt gotten his $ lined up yet.

My overall feeling is its more pistol than i want at a higher price than i want to pay.

I wont do it without getting to shoot it for sure.

so i would be basicaly be paying retail price for it.

Keeping the trans. Will you break even?
You need it, not a 45, right

No point in paying retail price for something you don't want.
Thats what im not sure about.
I want a pistol. Was hoping to hear someones opinion on how they handle, feel and kick.

Gut feeling says no i dont but ive never handled one.

owner of it is also a 3hr drive

Only 5" 45's I have dealt with have been 1911's. I wouldnt be worried about recoil. I also wouldnt get into that caliber, unless I reloaded for it. Cuz I'm a cheap ass.

I have a 5" m&p 9mm which is pretty much the same thing:laughing: its for sure not a ccw gun. But I like it for about everything else.

Ive got the XDs in 45 and like it, I know different size, but It's never failed to fire and shoots a nice group.
I wouldn't pay new price for it, especially when you have something he needs.

Fwiw

This is what I planned on getting when I was planning on getting into the academy.
Eta or the m&p
That future changed .
It also was 15 years ago...
I love my big iron.
I carry a 26 oz glock cuz it's not there like a 3# 1911:lmao:
That and it's disposable (er):flipoff2:

A quick look at galleryofguns says I can get a brand new 5” xd45 for $520 out the door. That’s with two magazines. I’ve only shot a couple xd’s but to my mind they’re not as good as an m&p or a Glock.

You want a pistol. You should have a pistol. Get one because it’s the one you want. Not because it became available in a trade where you weren’t getting the best of the deal.

Buddy had one. He didnt like it but he is a 1911 fan. I shot it a bit. Recoil isn’t really a thing. Its big so it wasn’t snappy or anything. If you looking for a carry piece its on the large size. Very doable but large. Honestly $3-400 tops but for large pistols I like plastic glocks:lmao: or a 1911. For carry I like my M&P shield 9.

You dont need the pistol. Your in the position to control the negotiating so play lets make a deal.

What are you wanting the gun for?
Nothing tactical active defence/offence.
General woods carry and animal dispatch (not hunting)

Biggest thing i would be worried about is a bear and they seem to be fairly mild tempered around here. Possibly putting down a half crippled deer that i hit.

Far from taking on active shooters or going after someone.

More than likely only ever shoot paper and bottles/can.

At some point i would like to get conceal carry but im far from that.

This just screams full size 9mm to me. Glock/M&P/XD/CZ whatever you like. They are all pretty solid guns.

Would probly look for one thats drilled for an optic. Just so you have that option if you want it. Red dots are cool, once you get used to them.

I think you really need one of these:flipoff2:

See this my hitch. Im a big-ish guy 6-2" 275n but i got fat hands and trump fingers. I used to really really want a 1911, till i held one. Just bigger in the grip than i felt i could comfortably hold.

Ive never got to mess around and play lego parts with one to find slimmer grips though.

Ive shot a few glocks and a very compact h&k that was my favorite because on its size and fit in my hand.

Total gf has a couple of med 9mm and they hold well. I dont feel like i NEED anything bigger than a 9mm. ( so i just went and looked, m&p shield and........... a FUCKING HI-POINT :lmao: )

45 just seems to have kinda lost its appeal. 9mm will do just about everything 45 can, but with less kick and typically more capacity.

I wouldn't want either for a bear.

I have a few small 9mms, a 1911 45 and if I get another woods, general pistol, it will be 10mm.

That coonan was a joke..sorta:laughing: Some skinny grips on a 1911 makes a difference.

Also most the plastic guns are now coming with different grip inserts to change the grip size. Pretty slick.

I have a shield that is usually close by. That 5" m&p gets shot alot more though. Its just fun.

Sounds like you need to go through a couple gun stores and see what actually fits your hand

The revolver i just got is just a .22lr ruger wrangler.
Just a cowboy/western style and was part of a ducks unlimited bingo night. Nothing i would have paid for outright or use for anything regularly.
