Custom diesel tuning, anyone done it?

Just wondering if it is worth it or not.
I am working on a 1995 power stroke.

I have a banks chip and a Hydra with a plethora of tunes and I hate them all.
Love my tony wildman tunes from way back.

Now I have a good solid transmission and torque converter I am not afraid to do more. Hate the E4OD shift points I want to change them without changing line pressure.

Can this be done with custom tuning a chip or would I be happier with a stand alone transmission controller?

Does tuning software have the ability to control many aspects of a trans? Am thinking about buying software to make my own engine/trans tune vs buying time from somebody else.

So wondering if anyone knows anything about it.

I haven't done it, but there are some good threads that I believe "Bill" from Power Hungry Performance posted on some of the Powerstroke boards, and Matt from Gearhead contributed a bit as well. Lots of good reading.

Does tuning software have the ability to control many aspects of a trans?

The tuner I had on my 97 made a huge difference on how the trans shifted. Was way better after the tune.
