What's new

Current teen slang terms.

This kinda goes back to our old days where "cappin" on someone was to talk shit.
So these days it's meant like saying "seriously" when they say "no cap".

"Sigma" basically means Alpha male.
skibiti is an odd one. It kinda means retarded and doesn't really mean much but used to label anything at hand as brain dead or stupid.

And whether or not your kids in particular decide to speak in any manner, it's not a bad thing to be aware of the meaning of the words you hear other kids use when you're at the games, etc. There are certain terms I'm ok with my kids using. I pick and choose and decide what's ok and what's not. Rizz, for instance, no problem with it. Derives from the word charisma and has a good place in the vocab so I'm alright with that one. The no cap and hey chat stuff, not so much. Plus you have to realize it's a temporary thing. Think back to when you were young, it doesn't last forever.

I have a couple I heard on the bus late last year that I asked the kids about.

Yeet, to throw. I yeeted him the ball or I'll yeet you right out of here.

Glizzy, hotdog. I could sure go for a glizzy about now or those glizzys sure smell good.

I asked them what was wrong with the proper words and they couldn't come up with a reason, they ended up looking at each other kinda like they were realizing something.

I got a week to go then it's back to the bus, I'm sure I'll hear some new ones soon.
Glizzy has been a regional term for a hotdog forever

If you don't let you teen kids talk like retards, they wont
That is how it works are our house

but I am old school like that
They just won't talk like that around you; around their friends they'll use their "language" in order to fit in.

My daughter is 13, doesn't use any of the slang around me or my wife, but when I listen to her talk with her friends, she sounds like that chick in the Viva La Dirt League video posted earlier.

Meh. wanna be slang just for the sake of slang comes and goes. What ever happened to "on fleek" for example.

Myself and so far my kids are sticking to timeless coastal surfer slang: Bitchin, gnarly, dude, bro, heinous, sick, poser, etc never get old and all the little groms around here stick to it. There has been an uptick in yelling "Yooooo!!!" when someone does some thing rad on a surfboard, bike, skateboard, dirtbike, etc, but I'm embracing that.

Wrong. It's a street term from the Crips. It's short for "cap yo ass". As in, you lie to me, I'm a cap yo ass. I figured someone that grew up on the streets would know that one.

My hood is 46% white and 44% black. Population of 26k. No shortage of brothers and sista's.

Had a buddy who you would swear his kid was black if you closed your eyes. I always told him he needed to beat that out of the kid. Too late now, kid is sitting in prison..............go figure.

How hard of an R?

From what I've deciphered, it ends with an A.
