What's new

Cool things you don't need, but will probably buy anyway

Guy called me with this. Gonna be hard to say no! 1942 serial

Someday I'll have an International Harvester M1 Garand. I'll probably never shoot it, but I think they are cool. Has to be an IH.
I finally bought an M1 Garand but it’s not an IH. Springfield Armory with a 1943 serial number. Barrel was replaced in the 60’s at an armory. I still want to find an IH some day, but I wanted to get one in the safe.

A buddy has a couple of these Farmertec Stihl clones and he said for the money it's really hard to beat them.

I already have an 026, 362, and my dad's 044. I don't burn firewood but I really want one of these 660 clones to put a 30-36" bar on.

Friend has one that showed me over turkeyday, good build quality, I think the company orginally was selling them as Stihls and they change models but the demand was still good for these old style models, they just rebranded them .

I watched Project Farm on YouTube comparing chainsaws.

Stihl won in most everything but pull cord. Farmertec chainsaw sucked as-is out of the box. But good for the value after a carb tune and with good bar & chain.

He also did a video on “mid size” chainsaws. I was surprised the Salem Master, at only $140, came in 2nd place, behind Stihl. This made it an excellent value.

I don’t remember what model, but it’s probably something like this one.

SALEM MASTER Chainsaw Gas 5820H 58CC 2-Cycle Gas Powered Chainsaw, 18 Inch Chainsaw, Handheld Cordless Petrol Gasoline Chain Saw for Farm, Garden and Ranch (5820H-18inch) Amazon.com

that's a zenoah clone saw, they're all over ebay, when I bought one it showed up with a bent crankshaft, rather than sending it back they just refunded the 80 bucks I spent
bit of hammer work and it's been running pretty good since

They're a 45cc saw that they chinengineered up to a 62cc jug onto, retaining the tiny carburetor so don't expect them to rev at all

that isn't a great price, especially after shipping

their 372 clone is 200 bucks after shipping, but... Eh.

Did you ever buy that one? I cheaped out and bought the 2cyl 4stroke and it just arrived. This is so cool and highly recommended as a hobby item for those winter days. Going to build the engine, get a transmission and shove into a 1/10th scale hard body jeep xj kit I have sitting on the shelf.

Those valves, the cam, the crankshaft...oh my!

$140 US at banggood

ETA, not my video. I just got mine and only opened and jizzed all over the parts so far

Finally built that motor. Took this long because I wanted to build it with my dad and he is a 20 hour drive away. Finally got there to see him last month and was a great way to spend time together. Had both of us giggling like schoolgirls looking at the cylinder head with the valves and installing the rocker arms :smokin:
If your dad (or mom, whatever) is any sort of gearhead this is a great cheap way to spend a day/afternoon together.
We couldn't run it as didn't have the fuel and plugs but it has the electric starting motor that we hooked to a battery and at least spun it up a few times
I have decided that I am buying myself either the V8 or the replica ford 300 as a retirement present for myself, when that time comes.
