What's new

Cool things you don't need, but will probably buy anyway

I thought that's the best way to get a YJ? Missing a bunch of parts? Because everything but the frame and body is garbage anyway... so thanks PO for taking out the trash.

Of course but that's a "ran when parked, I know what I got" $1500 marketplace yj. $200 is a perfectly appropriate price for that pile.

I hope that pile was fucking cheap or hiding something we can't see. That looks like a rusty pile of yj missing a whole bunch of parts.

I'm trying to con myself into new tool boxes. I have a 56" lower with a 26" top and it's too small. I have a HF card so I can pick up a new gen3 72" lower for $1800 plus 10% off for first purchase on the card. 0% interest makes it awful tempting to say no... :homer:
Bottom boxes suck for convenience imo. Add an end cabinet to your 56" lower and slap a 72" top box on top. :flipoff2:

The matching 56" top box is still sitting at the local store. Someone ordered the set and never picked them up which is how I ended up with yellow boxes.

I can pick up a side box and the locker for $150 each right now but my biggest bitch with this box is the stupid side latches on the drawers. The series 3 is a full width latch.

Researching title/registration/insurance things...
What state is it again that will just register anything through their website? Was it WY?
Did my "59 vw" through VT. Super easy, just get the nada value correct to pay the tax. VT didn't require proof of insurance, but PoBoy84 got me sorted out and its covered in NY with progressive.

this

why does everyone go and make their toolbox into a table
then they'll pack it full of blow molded plastic rather than cramming shit in there tight
my 41" box probably weighs more than most big stupid boxes, I do wish the drawers were the 24" deep ones though

One of these and a couple of 3S batteries.....

I've put it in my online cart a few times the last few months but talked myself out of it. Not sure how many more times I'll be able to do that before I hit the "complete your order" button.

My 56" box is fucking packed. There are 2 cases between the top and bottom box. 1 is a wooden box with my dial indicator and stand and a soft side case full of interior and trim tools.

The top 26" box was all I could fit in my spot when I bought the boxes and it has all shallow drawers. It sucks.

I could easily spread what I have now into a 72 lower and 56" upper and it'd be full but far more usable. Just trying to convince myself that digging for some stuff sucks bad enough to drop $2500+.

You know what has 24" drawers?

A file cabinet. :flipoff2:

My old man has went off the deep end with the airplane stuff. Lets buy a house with a hanger, on a private airport, so he can fly to the coast for lunch on saturdays:laughing:
I gotta buddy the same way. It's nice to fly up to Durango or wherever to grab lunch and a keg from a brewery.

I still wont get in the plane with him:laughing: Fucker can barely keep a pickup on the road
Shit i just pass out like I do on a commercial flight. Wake up when we hit the tarmac.
When I'm awake it's super cool listening to him chatter to the towers and everything. And my google earth nerdness loves flying low like that. Just got hearing protection for his dog so I'll be tending to her trying to get her used to going with him here soon.

So i did a thing.

Little rough but for $3k right up the street... Fug it.
EFI 2.3 Ford, 3 rib bus IRS. New timing belt, alternator, fuel pump, injectors, plugs, wires and rear tires.
No brakes. Link pin front. Time to throw some money at it.

If I could swap the registration of my '64 baja onto something like that, the world would be a beautiful place

I guess I should've posted about this in this thread before I bought it :homer:

Been mulling this over for almost 2.5 years, finally pulled the trigger (figuratively, then literally) last week.

Gamo Swarm Magnum 10X GEN3i in .22

I pretty much "needed" a suppressed, scoped pellet rifle for critter reasons, but it's actually fun to shoot
Nowhere near silent but quiet enough, way quieter than my Beeman P-1 .177 at ~600 FPS.

I was wary, but the 10 round auto-load feature is a fawkin' :grinpimp: option, hands-down.
Bit of a bitch to break at 41# but it delivers 26.6 foot pounds of energy.
I went with a .22 to stay subsonic but get good energy downrange.

Here's a few different kinds of pellets at ~16 yards:

50-100 more rounds & that fire extinguisher bottle will look like hammered dog shit

EDIT: I was sighting in the scope sitting on a hillside w/ my left elbow on my knee.
Bottom left two groups were my last two while still fingerfucking the clicketydials.
I believe this would hold 1" groups at 25 YDS rested. Totally happy with it.

Coolio
Gifted a Gamo Silent Cat couple weeks ago. In .177 @1250 fps. Or so it claims on the barrel. Ain't shot it yet. Might try a few dieseled rounds after familiarisation.

So i did a thing.

So the rail had/has 0 brakes, barely ran. Seller said fuel system was fawked. Cool, its not knocking.
Tore into the brakes last night and wheel cyls are just puking fluid. Replaced those. Shoes are soaked. Hose them down with some sauce. Bleed and get "some" brake. Turning brake is just dead as fuck.

Thing wont run for shit. Fuel isn't tooooo stanky. Mixed in some 100 octane. E2000 fuel pump that we've run in all the crawlers forever just sounds like shit. Squealing and hot and not consistent. Like its sucking air somewhere. Tighten down all the clamps, nadda. Check the Jegs aluminum filter. Seems to flow fine. Aint gotta FP gauge that fits but I know its fuel. WTF?
Take that fuggin filter outtah the equation and this bitch RIPS! Dunno why, but it was starving the pump.
Front end is beat to shit, kingpins are wobbling the wheels like 1/2" all over the place but hell yeah! fun shit!

Cool is in the eye of the beholder. Didnt need it for sure. Elkraider bought it anyway. Somethings are hard to walk away from.
Right on, half doors are worth more than full doors these days. I bought this pile just for the G2 D44 rear. Ill sell the ax15, sye 231, front axle and be money ahead with a spare engine and clean title/vin in a ziploc bag.

How much fun is the N/A 2.3? I’ve rode in a couple 2.3t buggies that would flat out scoot.

Only have about 15 miles on it so far but it seems sufficient for my plans. Heading out for a little trail ride right now. Will report back.

2 of them available 2009 and an 05 Vic. Min bid of 8k and 5k...

KBB says worth like 2-3k less.

31.6 miles of trail that only requires 2wd in my locked ZJ.
Did GREAT. Super stoked. This thing is gonna work out pretty good I think.
Could it have more power? Sure. Does it break the ass end free at any given time on gravel? Yup.
Some (more) brakes would be nice. And the front end is fawked!. 60mph on pavement is one of the sketchier things I've done. :lmao:
