Cool Old Iron in your Hood

That last pic is cool as fuck!



Is there a purpose for the high hood willys? Or was it just aesthetics?
The CJ-3B has/had a 4 inch higher hood to make room for the then new overhead valve engine. It was a stop gap measure to fit the bigger engine into the old CJ-3A body until the M38-A1/CJ-5 body came out.

People thought they were ugly and the model was much maligned, but I really like them and would probably resto-mod one with a large engine just to drive around.

For a "rare" model, it had a long production life and was licensed to other companies as well. You could buy brand new Mitsubishi- built versions in Canada up until 1998.

The Mitsus are neat, diesel 5sp. Saw one for sale last year and pondered a bit..:homer:

If they had raised the fenders up to match no one would have noticed.
 




The owner lives a few miles from me. Seen this thing when it was just built in Golden dale or the George rock crawl around 2001? Nicest TIG welds I had ever seen.
