What's new

Coming inflation

what does that mean?

talk to me
They are making it cheaper and easier for people to take out loans for currency that is increasingly worth less and less.

Which will further erode confidence and trust in the currency.

Its like they are trying to destroy faith in the American dollar.

Or...dumb fucks are at the helm and throwing shit at the wall to fix a problem that they don't know how to fix.

Yup, I can't respect a currency any more than they do, and clearly they don't value it for shit. I hate sitting on even just a little bit of cash right now

You really did pick a fucked up time span to quit working and buy consumable construction materials:laughing:

Some guys got all the luck
I'm continuously thankful that I was able to buy this place just before real estate went absolutely insane.
On the other hand I'm pissed as hell at myself for not buying a pole shed materials kit or a couple quonset huts a couple years ago before materials did the same.

Also a bit angry that I went ahead and fixed on the house rather than just propping it up well enough to keep it standing while parking a travel trailer next to the septic tank as I originally planned.

Travel trailer would have been way less fun though.

Look at all the fun you get to have!

:lmao: clearly you should have worn the covid underpants today.

It's not freezing rainy season up there yet? Are you able to work the ground year round in the basement?
it has been frosty in the morning a couple times now, ground is gonna freeze very soon. I need to figure out how I'm going to seal up a couple walls to the ground temporarily. I'm thinking crappy plywood at a 45 degree angle or thereabouts set into wet clay to provide a berm keeping the water draining "out" when it melts.
Right now, two walls have a 3' gap in them that would make heating the space impractical.
Got a modine heater waiting to go in the basement, just gotta figure out how I'm gonna get it bolted in place, being only one person and all.

It kills me to be sitting on $ right now, but the only places I feel safe investing are in dirt, buildings, and machinery. The real estate market is making it hard to find a good place to buy. I've been looking daily, and dropping everything and driving 8-10hrs one way to go see a listing when it pops up.

Where would you invest if you only had $30K? I don't know shit about investing, was going to maybe buy a rental once I had some more saved, but the COVID hoax and eviction moratoriums have made that even more risky. It's hard to break the mindset of wanting cash in the bank.

I'd look for a 486 style house project. But your in ny so it would probably be more of a tax liability than a good investment. It would have to be out of state.

It’s none of my business but why in the bank and not invested somewhere? Have to ask because you’re one of the few people I see doing that. I’m in a similar situation, part of my reason is I don’t feel like waking up and seeing a 30% loss because Biden said/did something idiotic on a Wednesday night before market opens.
got about 2yrs worth in the market
its been sitting long enough that the broker I was using got bought and I haven't bothered to link a bank account to the new owners' site yet
see also; I don't really buy and sell, but just buy for dividend payouts
day trading is stupid unless its what gets your dick hard, easy way to lose a lot of money fast

get on some stock broker site (not robinhood) and buy you some DNP
its value never changes by much, but it pays out 7% dividends and has reliably held both facts true for decades

About where I'm at, I'm going to build a dry shell of a house

Precious metals for sure. Crypto if you can.
I'm stuck in my Roth 401k, not worth pulling out. I move it all into 50% foreign, 50% precious metals US stock.
Wife moved her IRA into 100% silver backed Roth a month ago, it's doing incredible. We invest in crypto quite a bit also, but that more for spending money when the dollar is gone and it goes digital currency which we will not be participating in.

im sorry, but paper gold and silver don’t cut it. All those outfits will be bankrupt if the dollar crashes and G and S quadruple.

You might watch this.

Costco: USDA Prime beef tenderloin. Past yrs roughly 95$/4.5lb, Yesterday 168$/4.3lb. I Committed to doing beef tenderloin for a Friendsgiving Dec4th and need like 8lbs. Thanks for the fucking potato Joe
