What's new

Cigar Smoker's: What's in your humidor now?

I want to try a cigar. What's a good $10-25 cigar for a newbie to try, or maybe a sampler pack?
Perdomo has some nice sampler packs that fall within that general price-per-stick range. I like most of their offerings.

Until you know the range you like, you’re just going to have to pick one and go. A champagne is a nice mild cigar to start with. Typically the darker the wrap, the heavier the profile, so start light and work your way to dark.

Also don’t be afraid to go to your local cigar shop and ask for suggestions. Tell them you know dick about them but want to try some, and let them guide you.

No, I don't currently smoke. Which of these do I need to order?

Do you have a local cigar shop? That’s a bit of money to spend on something you might not like.

Maybe I should go that route. OK, I'm looking; guessing Fatty's Smoke Shop, Smokey Orbit Bryan Texas CBD| Tobacco| Hookah| Cigars| Kratom| D8/D9| THC| Disposable, Cloud-ee Smoke shop, or Discount Drink and Tobacco is not where I should be starting.

Go somewhere that sells only cells cigars. If they have a lounge, even better. If they have private memberships with lockers, that’s your shop. If they sell anything else in addition to cigars, they’re probably not your best option.

I think I found one. I'll stop in next time I'm in town. :smokin:

Bought some Class 34 Fugazi Torpedo 50x6 supposed to be comporable to Montecristo 1935
I normally don't buy torpedo shape didn't realize this one was till after they shipped, I can't taste all the flavors the true officandos claim, but these are a pretty good smoke

Kristof’s never go on sale. Atlantic has them for stupid cheap. 10 pack for $45

Apparently I don't want to try one real bad -- I still haven't stopped in.
There are places you can buy singles online. I like Fox Cigar for that, they put together some good samplers too. I would recommend an Arturo Fuente Hemingway.

I finally got up to College Station and stopped in at the cigar house. I told the dude I was a complete novice and wanted to try a couple of cigars. He spent 15 or 20 minutes with me going over everything I needed to know. I ended up with a Sobremesa Brulee Gordo and a La Aroma de Cuba Robusto.

One of the things he told me was once the cigar gets a nice ash going, you take 2 or 3 easy pulls a minute, it should last an hour or so. I'll give it a try tomorrow.

Those will be good smokes. Enjoy. :smokin:

That la aroma de Cuba is a great smoke. Hope you enjoy it.

Some of those are strong. I’m assuming that’s a calmer smoke.

He said to start with the Sobremesa and I asked for the other to be a little stronger. They're both supposed to be on the mild side though. A cold front is coming through tomorrow, high of 74, I think I'll go down in the woods with a chair and relax.

Very interesting. Let's just get this out of the way to begin with. Go ahead and get a chuckle out of my field-expedient ashtray, but just know that cigar cradle pivots to all four cups and it cost me nothing.

It took a few pulls to get the hang of it, but then it was pretty good. Definitely on the mild side, but I like it. I can see where it is a good place to start, but I'm looking forward to the other one that's supposed to have more flavor.

Those are my favorite, but not my wallets .

I don’t smoke daily.
I might smoke 2-3 in a week and go a couple months without. No real reason, it’s just how I roll.
I won’t light up unless I have the hour or so to fully enjoy the stick.

Anyway, I don’t own a humidor. I use an air tight container with bovida packs.

My “daily”/go to (so to speak)is Oliva V series Melanio)” and I tend to enjoy the darker wrappers.

But I did get lucky not long ago and was able to snag a box of Cubans ( nice but not outstanding IMHO).
