Census takers?

Had one show up last census after I ignored all the shit in the mail. Was hungover when they knocked on the door. Gave them the number when they asked and shut the door in their face when they started whatever the next question was. They didn't knock or come back again after that.

Gotten a bunch of letters in the mail for months about it this year. Thrown em all away after the first one. Went to the site to do it online, but it asks a bunch of personal questions you can't skip so I just closed out of it. If they show up this year all they're getting is a number.

she asked for al names of people living in the house on April 1st, with birthdates, relation to home owner, race and ancestry origin.

You can't skip them but it does accept NOPE as an answer.

entered my address, number of people and joe biden for names, everything else just keep hitting next till you get to the end and submit

I'm wondering if this is a new way for people to case houses?

I actually spoke with the officer who went on the call looking for her recently. He said that I wasn't being paranoid at all and her behavior was really strange. She was harassing another lady in the area as well, then gave her some bs paper. He said it looked legit at first, but had some weird handwritten shit on the bottom.
 
I own two houses next door to each other. I gave my interview at the house where I live, and nobody lives in the other house. I kept getting notes on the vacant door until last Wednesday (around noon) when I saw the census taker pull into the drive and go up to the door at the other house. I picked up my salad, walked across the yard, and asked if I could help her, and continued eating. I told her nobody lived there and she happened to ask what I was eating. I told her a cheeseburger and turned around and walked back home.

They were here a month or so ago. I was at work and they left a card sticking out under the mat.
It’s still there where they left it.
They already know who and how many live here. The rest is information they want for political purposes.

I’m in the same boat. We own the house next door. She didn’t seem to like when I told her no one lived there and insisted on leaving the slip of paper there. I had a second lady come a few days later and I had to tell her the same thing.

Why is it always middle aged white women? Them getting paid to butt into others peoples business is like me getting paid to masturbate. I’m gonna do it anyways, you don’t need to incentivize it.

Not sure there is much they can do beyond idle threats.
Kinda like jury duty.
‘It’s the law’ is often cited, but in reality I’m not sure they’re going to waste resources on it,
especially in today’s climate.
They should only be interested in the number living in the household and nothing more IMO.
Beyond that, it’s an information grab I’m not participating in.
 
Had to deal with one yesterday. I'm working on a tractor when a minivan comes down the private road, turns around stops, and does this a few times before driving another 100 yds up and stopping. There is fuck all reason for anyone to be on the road. Jump in the ranch truck and see what's up. Guy jumps out with clipboard in hand.

Asks " does anyone live at 838?"

No

"Can I put down your name?"

No

wasnt pushy and went on to ask about the land
. i went on to tell him that nothing has changed people wise out here in the past 30 years since the 4th cattle guard he crossed. Guy was being nice and not a dick and asked about other houses and showed me his map of places he needed to visit.

"when you leave you can take a left, I'll be that way in about an hour and can pull you out of the river crossing when you get stuck. Or you can drive back the way you came, take xx road to xx road and itll be about an hour drive."

Keep in mind it's about 10 miles away as a crow flies. He thanked me and went about his way.

He did say his map had places listed as DANGEROUS and went on to say the large ranches were generally cool people. But the little hideouts were a bunch of assholes. Sounds about right. He was very accustomed to being met with guns but said he couldnt carry on the job.
