CaNaDa square headed screw vs Merica Phillips head screw

I can guarantee you that you’ll strip out the head of a Robertson square drive every time long before you’ll strip out a torx head unless you’re using some cheap ass cHiNa bit.

I can't remember the last time I stripped a robertson....with impact drivers I've snapped the heads off more often than stripping them.

Square and torx both suck. You have to have the correct size. Like I really need another tool that I guess the size and have to go back to the tool box. And of course, if you happen to have a complete set except for one size, guess which size you need? With Philips, one size fits all. (Or at least most)

You are a dumbass, even #1 vs #2 Philips being the most common sizes are barely interchangeable...unless there's literally no torque they will just strip. Robertson is almost always #1 or #2 (green or red), rare to see the #0 or #3, though I do have bits and screwdrivers in those sizes...but either way, I can eyeball those sizes easier than I can a Philips.

You Canadians need a color identifier????

Robertson's have always been yellow, green, red, black for the #0 #1 #2 and #3. Colours make them faster to grab the right one, yet another advantage of Robertson.
ORANGE, yellow, green, red, black.

You forgot one.

Oh, yeah, go raunchy bitch!

I’m pretty sure Robertson screws are all that’s holding Betty together, I find them annoying but less so than slotted or flat.

You guys that can’t use Philips without stripping them are gay. I use one size Philips for everything but sunglasses.

That's a Herbie Homeowner take on that fastener drive system. Try removing and installing hundreds of fasteners in a situation where time is money, and report back. Also, I'd love to see you break loose a #3 or #4 Philips with your trusty do-all Phillips driver:laughing:

By any chance, is this your setup?

I've sunk probably 100,000 Robertson screws in my life making cabinets and furniture. Never a strip, handful of broken heads. They're awesome. I like torx but they're ugly and too many sizes.

It's hard to admit defeat here, as an American that bleeds red white and blue, the Robertson is just a better driving method.
The torx screws do work good, but because some jerk used them in the automotive world and never designed a better driving bit, I hate them them.

Torq-set ftw:flipoff2:

The problem with all the new fangled stuff is you can’t do anything without the right tool. I can tighten a Philips with a dime or a knife if I have to. Even though I don’t like the metric system, logic demands that I agree it is the best system. The same logic tells me Philips is the best.

Square drive has 3 standard sizes, same as Phillips

No. It doesn't. Not even freaking close. Why can you not accept that?

Because a little thing called experience gets in the way. Put a smaller Philips in the bigger screw and it turns. Is it ideal? No, but it works. Put a smaller Robbertson in a bigger square and it doesn’t work. Get it?

My experience says that you are without a doubt a dumbfuck too. However, no one is able to help you with that
