What's new

bought a turbocharged aftercooled shed with sweet five spoke twenny tooz

So, placed some concrete blocks 2'x4' ro so to park the front pizza cutters on, because this is going to sit in an area I just made about 20 yards of topsoil "disappear" into.

Get the motherfucker up to about 20 or so in the yard aimed at these plinths of virtue and justice
Mind you I've only got front brakes and I don't want to skid the concrete bits outta where they're sitting
so I end up becalmed just before the final resting place, shoulda given her a little more beans, hadn't spun the tires yet, so it still could go well.

Skidsteer won't pick up a single corner of this fat whore, and it just ain't got the traction to push it up onto those plinths, so I give it some thought. Could call the neighbor over to push with the skid steer while I drive the busmobile... Nah wouldn't want to be a bother.

So I chain the bucket to the rear frame crossmember so the bus won't take off on its own, get bus in low gear and apply the hand throttle to about 1500 rpm. Gave a brief thought to tying a rope to the shutoff cable and running it through the back door but decided against it.
Ran around, hopped in the boob**** and started pushing, getting nowhere so shut it down and jack up the front to put it on higher blocks so there's less of a hill to climb.
Set it all up running and push/pulling again and it is still not moving.
I start rocking it and finally get moving a little! Whoo great, now time to stop, get some tension on the chain and that's about where the bus takes off good enough to drag the skidsteer along with it. Yup, drove right off the front of the foot high blocks.
Motherfucker.
Well alright, I'll just do the same thing but in reverse.
Proceed to spin the tires and dig to china.
Jack up the rear (more like jack a bunch of rocks and plate steel down into the manure/topsoil) and toss some old trailer ramps under the rear.
Jack up the front (same deal where the ground moves 3* what the bus does) and try and angle the jack to it pushes it back and onto the blocks, sorta kinda successful looking until I start pulling it back with the bobcat, then it pushes the blocks outta the way and drops into the poop again.
Fuck.

So to put it succinctly, life is hard when you're one person.
I'll work at it more tomorrow.
Thanks for sharing.

Makes me feel better about being my neighborhood's "one man retard show"

I'm fucking sure the entire street is watching me whenever I go by. In my opinion though, they're all a bunch of useless dummies.

no stupid horse people near you that complain when your small bales are "too heavy"?
Fuck horse people. We will not sell to them, not worth the aggravation. We do 4X5 bales.

When My GF's dad used to do squares. When her brother left for the navy, her dad bought the round baler the next week :lmao:

tried to park it with the rears atop a couple corners of IBC totes to keep the mud from squeezing between the duals
mighta worked if I stuck it in one go, the left one is still under there so we'll still be able to see the efficacy of that particular solution in a few years

pics are more or less in chronological order, turns out I didn't take any today, so you get a pic of the garbage ETS mag I bought , had to shoot at a chipmunk so used it and gee whiz, first round through it and it jams up. Back to carrying an OEM mag for me.

as you can see it went poorly, briefly saw success for half an instant before degenerating sharply, then slowly and with a ton of effort

ETA: oh and those big heavy bent up old trailer ramps are the best things for this sorta shit
I'll never make fun of anyone that has those stupid overpriced plastic ones again. No I still will but...

Oh and found one of the progress on the interior
some are just low shelves, up front to keep 4x8 sheets off the floor, and further back they're light duty upper shelves with basket rack sorta deals made outta the lower half of the seat frames for a bunch of cedar t&g boards that are coming off the walls in the house

This is a pretty cool jack if you're used to jacking putting blocks under the tires, then putting blocks under the jack then jacking more...

I've looked at those a few times and can't help but think that they'll be like the 2-stage tranny jack they bought at work where they're soft steel rams that get garred up and it's always leaking because there's no scraper to keep the dirt outta the v-packing.

I really want one, but it'll have to show up for sale well used for me to trust it.
As it is today I was using the long ram from an engine hoist. Works great if you've got the clearance to fit it in there.
That red norco bottle jack? Found it in the street. Thought it was a fire extinguisher until I passed it, then I checked my mirrors and slammed on the brakes.

We use the one that I linked to jack up the well rig ( 58' f600) it's a couple of years old now and gets thrown around but is still working and not leaking. I'll try to remember to check the rams next time it's extended.

The one that we had before that died when it was overloaded.

Oh yeah we had that when putting up small bales... When you go up to the 3'x3'x8' bales that weigh around 800# that means it's loader time so they don't bitch about weight anymore. Can also hide a few weeds in big bales whereas in a small bale if you get one weed in there it sticks out the side and they bitch about it... Fucking horse people...

The biggest advantage to the large square bales is the time it takes to bale, pick the hay up out of the field, and load it out of the barn. Easily less than half the time invested in it. Baling is faster as you can pretty much fly across the field as fast as the baler will eat it, picking them up is extremely fast with a ProAG bale skoop (12 bales at a time). And loading them out of the barn is all done with a loader and no fucking around hand stacking bales on a trailer. So much easier all the way around!

got the shit on its blocks
tall jack pushes channel steel into the mud real good
ratchet strap pretends to be a comealong real good too, really should find where I fucking left my good chain comealong... that thing was way nice and fuck spending a couple hundred bucks to replace it
started loading it up yesterday with shit
