yeah, buddy

2800 bucks with a full tank of fuel and a gallon of dot3 to get me home
DT360/at545
it's got the funny half-radiator
I got it all the way to 63, downhill
got some very fresh looking tires, too bad they're 10r22.5s and not 11r, probably zero resale value on them
it'll probably never see the road again

shipping containers were $4k last I checked, this thing's almost as good as a shipping container, and it ambulates as well
Might end up with an f350 cab on the frame, probably won't.
Been unbolting the seats so far, just realized that they're worthless so I'm gonna hit the rest with the 9" grinder rather than trying to save the legs

floor is interesting, it's just 8" c-purlins stacked across the framerails with plywood atop, seems almost like it'd even make a decent flatbed if I stripped the plywood off and boxed the ends...

Anyways, it's a shed, thus the GCC rather than TR&T

seats into shelves is a much better idea than I had. Fuckin' A man, good thing I bothered to make the thread
got a shitton of tongue and groove cedar and such that needs to be stacked up in there
[ATTH]Semen
this guy gets it

Nice. I have been casually bus shopping myself with a potential move coming up

honestly I just poked around on craigslist for less than an hour, found a blue bird with a 24v cummins for $4k, asked the guy if they had anything with a mechanical motor and a little more beat
they were gonna chop the motor outta this one because the brake line to the rear had broke and it was pretty rusty, so I got it for a discount

one thing that's disappointing about it though is the thomas body is all steel, I think the blue bird ones were aluminum and therefore worth a lot more as scrap

My plan is to gut one, move then build it out after.

Figure a Uhaul/Penske rental will set me back the same amount anyhow.

I wish I could find a manual trans. I love driving manual trans 10 wheeler. The autos drive me nuts...."upshift you piece of shit!! Why the fuck did you downshift!!!!"

The newer Autocars at Waste Management were tolerable autos, but fuck the 90s crap.

There is some satisfaction in rowing through gears in a semi.

The farmers here cut the walls about halfway down and make giant pickup beds out of them for hauling sweet potatoes and melons.

You going to drive it much? That is almost the least desirable bus to do bus things with. Shed, awesome. Tiny engine and the worst trans for a bus, by far. Those like to get hot on the highway. I will type more of you plan to drive it.

it will probably never see the road again
no insurance and it's rated at like 29k lb where in mn you need a DOT number and physical to have plates over 10k
so overloading the fuck outta my f350 makes a lot more sense than an mdt

Maybe f350
Maybe nothing
For the next couple years, puttering the shed around the yard.
moving the shed to whatever side of the house you happen to be working at sounds more fun in theory than it probably is in reality  but hell, sheds are otherwise a bitch to move anyways

I have an odd fascination with owning one of these someday to turn into a redneck toterhome to travel around the country in with the wife and dogs.

I'm gonna need to look up the rearend on these
something tells me you can't torch a hole in the diff and weld the spiders, it's probably one with four crosspins and a clamshell diff case

iirc that style truck is popular with "expediters"
My grandpa was one back when aircooled VW busses were common, I still don't know exactly what it is an expediter does. Like a "teamster", nobody can give me a clear answer on what they do.

In my mind they pick up important freight/packages at airports and shipping ports and get them to their destination as fast as possible and are basically on call 24/7 and live out of their trucks.
