So I was finalizing the turbo location in the pickup, when I realized some of the space under the hood that I wanted to use for the air box, will need to be used to clear tires. And so, I spent the rest of the day working out just how much to cut. I still havent committed. Would like to get some opinions and examples. The area in question is right where the battery sits on both sides. Who's running a really low rig, stretched forward, on 38s - 42s ? Garage flexin pics for attention.

I think bump stops would really help save your springs and prevent a lot of trimming. I run a fairly low toy toyota rear,63 cookie cutter that ive gotten as low as possible without frenching hangers and going spring under. With moderate trimming of fenders and tubbing firewall it will tuck a 39.5 irok just kissing battery tray. But i do run bump stops to keep springs from going past flat. Hope these pics work

Bump stops are coming. But the truck is only going to get lower. Ill be shortening the shackles also. Right now as it sits, there is 10" up travel before it's hitting frame in the front (high arch 2wd frame). And 30" from axle center to the top of the inner wheel well. So stuffed on 40s would rub. The axle is forward enough that hitting firewall wont be as big of an issue as stuffing the battery box. At full lock, full stuff, I'm worried about getting into the headlight/ marker light area also. I'm not into a dovetail either. I guess ill just cut as much as I can and hope for the best.

Don't worry, you won't be getting 10" of up travel from leafs :flipoff2:

It's possible to fit 40-42s in the front without lowering bump stops too bad. You just have to tub the firewall and have the axle in the perfect spot.

:flipoff2:that much up travel is gay when Ill be running a 14" shock. And these leafs will use all 14 inches :flipoff2:Throw bumps in and it will be more like 7-8 up. Shorten the shackles and flatten the leafs should get me to hopefully around 4-5" up. So it needs to come down 3-4" still. There is some more weight to be added with bumper 8274 turbo system rads etc. I thought the 5.3 was going to lower it more than it did.

When I linked my 1st gen 4Runner I had to move the battery to the back and swap out the stock intake for an LCE one. I've got about 4.5" of uptravel on 14" shocks, running 39.5" Pitbulls.

When we reworked the front of mine. WB is stretched from 112" to 120". 20" frame to ground with a fabricated subframe. 6" of up travel on a 14" Fox CO, stock width KP 60, 39" Reds and 4.5" BS wheels. I relocated the battery behind the driver's seat and just hammered the shit out of that portion of the inner fender with a BFH. I need to clearance it better after I get my turbo 2rz swap done. I really want to tube out the front end and add my fender skins to keep it looking like a truck. I think you started well on your first try. If in doubt, cut a little more out and box it in.

My last toyota had a 3rz. If i was to build an all yota truck again, it would have an RZ. This truck is about 128 WB. It's stretched front and rear. Because of the length and width, it could some height so it doesnt belly out. That's why I raised the drivetrain up. Your truck is an ideal height. Thanks for the input.

I plan on cutting mine similar to yours. I can handle moving the battery. Will be a good reason to go dual bats.

One side down.

And the other side. It didnt turn out quite as well as the first side. Had to do some gap filling. Then I started to rush the welding. Anyways, pics, not painted so you can see it. Made it so I could keep the juice bottle. Should be ok.

Clearanced the firewall as much as possible. Went into the body mount pretty good. Should be good for an upgrade later. 38s shown.
