What's new

B1K tomorrow.

So the contingency incident involved some friends of mine. They've made a public statement and have a fundraiser going for the man that was hurt. If you facespace, here's the link:

So sorry to hear about this. My buddy knew one of the guys that passed away.

such a weird situation, did we ever find out what caused the truck to lurch forward like that?

I think Buhler is from KC area, I knew a guy that used to pit for them long ago. Crazy deal all around.
My buddy Miles go to go chase with Norsemen, they didn't make it to finish, haven't heard what yet.

It's too bad Toby Price DNF'd. I think they were in a great position to push Luke in the last 300 or so miles. Oil pump on the engine seized up is what I heard.

Um...ok

LET'S BUILD A CLASS 11 CAR!!!!

Looks like my buddy (JAmes Otto > Bryan Roos) timed out, maybe.

I was texting with him Friday night, lost the starter on the CRF450 10 miles into his section @ RM220.
He made it from there to the end of his section without falling or stalling @ RM468.

They ended up stalled somewhere with another bike, didn't get it out until 5 am.

Saturday at 1:45 pm he still hadn't been to sleep from Wednesday night so I wasn't trying to keep him on the phone.
Hope to get a good debrief of how ti went.

a few KOHs ago i got to watch menzies codog oring change a tire right in front of me. oring was unbuckled, net down, basically standing on the side step impact in hand before the truck stopped. onboard jacks going as he grabbed the spare, lugs off before the wheel was off the ground, swapped it, flat rack and was getting in as the jacks were going up, window net up and they were back to race speed, im sure he was still buckling up as they peeled out. sub 60secs for that happen. dude was a machine and impressive to watch
I saw a video on the Youtube where a rally team replaced a transmission in a WRX in less than 6 minutes. Driver and co-dawg didnt even get out. :smokin:

Racers are retarded, why we are even able to do it in the first place.
:lmao:

When Audi was dominating Le Mans with their diesel cars, one of the things that contributed to that success, (other than the MPG of the diesel engines), was that they were modular. Got a trans-axle go out on you, replace it complete with full suspension, brakes, wheels, tires etc. They were like transformers.

My feed has news of Ford winning various classes. Did they 'compete' in classes of one again? I can't pull up the entries.

Yes. I was on the ford team. Nobody else showed up to race. That’s not on us that Chevy and Toyota can’t bring their “Raptor killers” to a race just yet.

We still ran the race exactly the same as if they had shown up. Ford isn’t entering empty classes intentionally. The other OE’s can’t get their shit together and show up. Both the vehicles ford campaigned had issues on Friday night and the whole team fixed both rigs to hit every VCP and finish on time. While the other guys are dragging their asses and talking shit on the internet. Ford is refining a program that will be completely dialed in and fully functional for when someone comes to take them to task.

Chevy brought these “Raptor killers” to Vegas to Reno and both of them were broken by race mile 30. We got 5 ford performance bronco’s all 555 miles to the finish line without a single problem. Kinda hoped Chevrolet was gonna show up to Baja and give us a challenge.

So get ahold of your non ford teams and urge them to join the party, please

I'm not going to sit and say finishing the Baja 1000 is easy, but the media train goes a little hard in the paint here. :grinpimp:

Ford Performance cleaned house at the 2024 Score Baja 1000 with a pair of off-road-ready racers, proving once again that The Blue Oval is practically unstoppable in the Mexican desert, following its 2023 wins with the Ford F-150 Raptor and the Bronco Raptor. After charging through hundreds of miles of rough terrain, the Ford Bronco DR and the Ford Ranger Raptor conquered the off-road excursion with a pair of trophies to show for it.

The Ford Bronco DR, so far, is undefeated – it has won every race it’s competed in so far in 2024. The Lovells dominated the first two legs of the race with fellow Ford Performance duo Jason Scherer and Jason Berger in hot pursuit. Scherer and Berger went on to take the third leg of the race.\

“Baja doesn’t hand out wins,” said Lovell. “You earn them by enduring the worst it throws at you and pushing through when it seems impossible. That’s what makes this race so special.”

I’m not disagreeing with you. If you spent that kind of money and time doing this I think you’d want to toot your own horn as well. I don’t know what it actually cost them to do this but I was one of over 60 people in Mexico on the payroll for 9 days. We put 3500+ miles on a superduty pre running and building strategy in those 9 days. Every single person put in the effort so I don’t blame them for celebrating.

These were earned. We could have quit at midnight on Friday and still called it a win because nobody went further. But everybody pushed all the way to the finish. Hoping someone shows up with the intention of taking these away from ford next year :smokin:

I mean yeah... Like I'm happy Ford does it and I wish others would. But the 1st place doesn't mean a whole lot when they didn't even make a trophy for second. The "finisher" is definitely earned, but "1st" suggests there there was a "2nd". Forgive me as I'm not in the scene, but isn't it possible to show up in a vehicle that passes tech in a class of 1 and just liesurely drive the race course and be awarded a similar sized trophy?

Edit-- there is definitely the stress of breaking down/crashing because that would be humiliating and I doubt Ford would want that. I recall the Gladiator's stunt at KOH that one year, and it was close
