Yep. My Scout is already hibernating. All my life in the Rust Belt, since moving further into it. I stopped driving the vehicles I like in the salt.
I've never seen a badly rusted out frame of that vintage. We would think that our steel yards were using locally sourced fresh ore.I’ve bought series trucks from the 60’s and 70’s that had frames completely rotted off and were only on the road for 7-10 years.
I need to get another civic. 03, was the best car I've had.in comparison: my 200k mile 06' civic doesn't have a spot of rust anywhere other than surface on some fasteners. I've driven it at least 5 winters now, it never got washed till the spring. eventually it's moving down to MD to my buddy, it'll probably never see snow again
Thats what, 80k miles? My ma's was a rotten pile but it had 400k km on a replaced 2.5L.
Land Rover frames are only slightly thicker than 16ga steel…. And fully boxed to keep the mud in. At one point they weren’t even painted on the inside.I've never seen a badly rusted out frame of that vintage. We would think that our steel yards were using locally sourced fresh ore.
Only the early rice burners (Jap tech using recycled metals) & the US auto industry using (buying) the same technical knowledge metals on their vehicles-
Haha it's not like our useless money lol.I need to get another civic. 03, was the best car I've had.

I work in steel. Steel is steel as long as it meets the set spec of customer. Regardless of whether it came from EAF (electric arc furnace) 90% all recycled. Or a BOF (basic oxygen furnace) still large amounts of recycled material in every batch.I've never seen a badly rusted out frame of that vintage. We would think that our steel yards were using locally sourced fresh ore.

How are the +2008 GMC 2500s for frame rot?
they're always broken off or bentWhat’s wrong with using a regular punch? Besides buying it?
yeah they got a lotta steel in them that rots bad, then takes the aluminum with itdon't those have a steel firewall and shit that rots out?
C channel frames never rusted like boxed framesI've never seen a badly rusted out frame of that vintage. We would think that our steel yards were using locally sourced fresh ore.

I did the Bell Tech 6400 first and a few years later...After you fix that, the shackle or shackle hanger rots off
... and rear frame rusted off, thank goodness that only the emissions canister(?) fell off. Another reason I stopped driving the Ranger was the rear end was getting too squirrelly. I bought a Tacoma, the rear frame isn't any better-and rangers got the fuel tank and fuel lines and brake lines all packed in there so the left one catches a bunch of shit that holds salt mud in there to rot
that's why the pickup box is thereAfter you fix that, the shackle or shackle hanger rots off
Here’s the sweet spots there not as bad as the 1500’s thoHow are the +2008 GMC 2500s for frame rot? I’ve seen 1500s rot out of this vintage up here but can’t say I’ve seen 2500s with rot. Not much on the google crystal ball either. I found a 2500 I like
