In small amounts it's not going to hurt anything. Pretty quickly going to get diluted to the point of being unnoticeable, and a considerable amount will get immobilized in various ways within the soil.

Now, when the local oil change shop is dumping 100 gallons a day that way you might have a bit more of a problem.

Interesting fact, I've had various tractor issue dump decent amounts of hydraulic fluid places in the hay field and the grass is noticeably greener in those spots.
Dads family dumped in same spot for years, now my mom has a really nice flower garden growing in that same spot.

Government and local street departments have been dumping used oil, and various chemicals on streets for years.

That's dumb. Asbestos is naturally occurring, go roll around in some and report back.
No problem at all. Asbestos is only dangerous when airborne. When it's still in shingles as siding or wet it's no more dangerous than the shirt on your back.

I had the opposite with a hydraulic oil. Grass never grew after.

the question i have is how the hell do you get rid of antifreeze
Sugar free Slushee

If I’m working on something around the house, I use it on fence posts. I burn waste oil at my shop.

Where asbestos is naturally occurring, it's in the dust.

Wtf is this pic all over again?

It's from some 1957 manual, and it's been bunching panties since at least 1994.

It is pretty funny watching folks on aircooled VW forums pretend to be upset about oiling the planet, though.

IIRC, there are several different types, and only one of them is dangerous. Buncha hype.

When the original house on my parents old property brined down it had asbestos tile siding. The fire Marshal knew what it was and just told us to "Be careful disposing of that white siding "

I don’t get your point. There’s bad stuff in the world. It was here before us and it will be here after we are gone. I guess you can shoot it into space, but it will probably come back eventually.

People don't live where the "poisons" are.

If you were on a well, would you pour it beside the well?

I had some mineral spirits leech last summer and kill the grass. It seemed to at least grow weeds this summer.

I take mine to local shops. I was going to try it in my Chinese diesel heater but too many horror stories

Grand dad retired from Jefferson proving grounds in Jefferaon county Indiana, only Tobacco he smoked or chewed he grew it at home. Died from lung cancer not to long after retirement. His barn us kids played in was covered in asbestos.
Guy bought parts of the proving grounds hoping to turn a profit, everything in the buildings was lined with asbestos
fun fact
In my area, everyone would 'recycle' it and get the feel goods
then the papermill would buy that shit by the semi lead and inject it directly into the boiler
Concrete supplier here paid years of money to be able to use hazerdous waiste to fire off their kiln. They used coal for 100 years before that

Boil off the water and it will burn too.

Most chain parts stores will take it. if they won’t, just tell them it’s oil and don’t let them watch you pour it in their oil tank.

Landfill/recycling center here has tanks for antifreeze and oil. I keep good oil for the smudge pot and anything questionable goes in their tank.

Not trolling.

it assumes a non-closed system or counts on the 'I will be dead before it matters' thought process. The planet is a closed system.

think of it this way - Take a cup of water... add a single grain of salt. No taste because it is dilute.

Keep adding salt. eventually you are gonna taste it, and if you keep adding you will eventually make it undrinkable.

The same with a lot of these theories. Dilution works if you can replace the recipient of the pollutant. Where are you gonna get more air? where are you gonna get more dirt? Eventually it will have diluted to the limit of our ability to cope. Another example if nuclear steam releases... we can measure them thousands of miles off... Harmful? Not really, but we haven't done a lot. If we keep venting it will make a difference ( Pre-nuclear steel anyone?)

Long after you and I are dead it will matter. tomorrow, not so much.

Anti freeze?

Sugar water?

What do people do with vodka when they quit drinking
