What's new

A New Scout?

Just wait till one floods in the next hurricane

Imagine being the only guy bidding on a bricked one to dump in a 350/350/205:laughing:
I'm thinking a supercharge 511 Big Chevy, 4l80, 203/205 and rear steer D70 would be a proper start. :smokin:

We’ll see what happens between now and whenever these things are available. I do believe that my bronco is more of a scout than the new scout.

I was just thinking about texting you to see if you're getting one. Guess you did.:grinpimp:

I'm thinking about the Terra.

I think most people now seem to forget International Harvester was made for Farmer's, agriculture, industry. Not city, suburban hipsters.

They did eventually market the Scout II for the working class family and some of the earlier doll up 80s/800s.

The travelall to the traveling/ towing family.

A lot of the IH clubs have become very hipsterish. More of a fad, like fashion trendy kind of thing. Which I don't mind at all as it brings people of all walks together.

I still hold out hope for a real engine, as it sits I'd never consider an EV.

But for people to still push EV for everyone is like you say it. Asinine.

Back to my point, IH was a working class rig, work horse vehicles.

EVs are not that in any way currently and current tech which these represent is not what IH or "scout" was about.

Sorry. I have a '76 Scout Traveler and a "67 Scout 800. Not really interested in a 30-60k knockoff.

Edit: Both are worth 17-21k today.

I have been hoping for years they would bring back something close to the 70 series, simple with just enough electric BS to be legal. But I guess not.

I hate these electric car grills that are trying to be sleek and modern. They just look ugly imo including the scouts, although much better than a Rivian. Other wise the styling is not back, I like how they tried to incorporate some of the looks of the scout ii, such as the way the rear window ends. 10x better than the new grand Cherokees, Wagoneer, or blazer...

Sad, I see so many broncos/jeeps around here. A lot rolling around with no top when the weather is nice out, seems there is a massive market for the removable top 2/4 door offroad SUV here. But nope, let's go compete with Rivian. I would have loved a scout if they offered a removable top, ICE, and a manual, just like the bronco.

Perhaps they should rename the 4 door to a Travelall, and build a third, smaller 2 door version with a removable top, ICE, and a manual option... and call that one the Scout. I would buy one if it was under 40k.

I was at the reveal as well. I didn't know when I woke up that morning that I would be ordering my first two new Scout's ever. As someone who is not a fan of EV's, with what they have going on with the Harvester model, and all the other details they mentioned in the presentation, I couldn't help but get one of each.

Nice. We got one club member here in Spokane that ordered the Travelall. Me and my boss are thinking hard about the Terra. He's going to call someone he knows who's initials are JG for his opinion later today.:grinpimp:

You must have thought highly of them. We have experience with electric school buses and I actually like them better than I thought I would. Electric isn't the perfect be all like is being pushed but they definitely have a place.

That’s cool on the reveal! Where did they host it?

Cool, an electric knockoff of a Mitsubishi SUV. Slap an IH badge on something gay and watch all the IH fans cream their pants and jump at the chance to own one. :shaking:

There are already a pile of electric 4x4 SUV's on the market that I bet none of you own, yet slap an IH badge on something that's exactly the same and now it's a must have!!! :lmao:

Why not buy a Mustang Mach E? Same gayness just without the IH badge.....

What other EVs come with 35s, lockers, and a built in genset?

And anything with a Scout badge that's not a pile of rust get us all excited.:flipoff2:

They don't put lockers and 35s on EVs because people that need/want those things in real life want ICE type range and weight and don't want a rig that weights 10k lbs before you load gear into and on it.

They stiff you guys on the removable top, a Scout tradition, make it a soy boy hipster EV rig to boot and you IH purist types have wet panties just thinking about possibly owning one..... Best marketing department eva!!!

:flipoff2:

I read US VW dealers are gearing up to sue VW because they are going to sell direct to consumer cutting out the stealership experience. :lmao:

:flipoff2:
They can't be marketing to IH purists only, there's only like 7 of them, and 4 of those are broke.

:flipoff2:

Yea the market is the hipster overland crowd.

Just like the biggest market for the Jeep and Bronco is soccer moms now.

Will be interesting to see what happens in the next few years even if it gets off the ground.

Rivian still doesn't seem to be making money, and most EV manufacturers are bleeding $. In Ontario Canada the EV business is heavily government subsidised. Stellantis retool in Brampton, on, VW battery factory in St thomas, ON, Stellantis battery in Windsor, ON.

Ford was given a ton of money that they backed out on after cancelling the plans for their EV SUV factory and making it a F series truck factory in another 2-3 years.

GM was given tons of money for the EV brightdrop trucks in Ingersoll, ON and they can't even run full shifts at the plant. They get laid off every couple weeks.

:flipoff2:

Good on them for trying something I guess. But in my eyes the EV only market isn't that hot and its topped out.

Fuck spending $80+k cdn on a vehicle.
