Any recommendations for a good Youtube vid on piecing together a basic AR-15 from a 100% but bare NIB receiver and a PSA or similar upper kit ? I had one Video from about 2016 but lost it in a PC switch. Havent built one yet, first time. Also, miss USMCdoc here on PBB. - thanks (recent events have me thinking quicker handier firepower than my scoped 8x57 bolt hunting rifle)

Pick one and watch it. They are all the same.

Midway USA has videos. They are decent but you don't need all the special tools they say you do.

Thanks. I have done just that. Is Larry Harry Potterfield on LSD or really strong herb ??

Anyone actually tried one without the jig? I have the blueprint, but seems slightly sketchy still lol.

If you have done them before you could probably do them without the jig. Even the jig isn't perfect. At least the drill press jigs.

The holes on the sides are easy enough, just mark and drill.

But the hole for the trigger sticking out the bottom, that is probably the toughest part.

first few I did I tried to be safe and did not get the pocket wide or deep enough for the trigger to function properly. After you learn and realize how little pressure there is inside that milled pocket you relax and open it up a bit so the parts just drop in.

Yes all the specs are online, if you can trace them out on your lower it could work. I use a drill press and it is a little old and sloppy so for me the jig is more of a safety to let me know when my press is drifting farther than I like.

Never done one, but do have a drill press.... Tempting. The jig is just a ton of added $.

LD2020 gets you 30% off.

Puts the as-machined lowers at around $38/shipped

Ordered 3 As-Machined.... $109

Who/What are people like for the upper assemblies?

get some of mine from delta team tactical, usually have good sales, decent uppers, did a 45 acp, a 9 mm and 300 blkout with their upper. i like em.
they send usally 2 to 3 email promotions a day

I finally got my Venom Defense lowers in. Very nice and solid. Clean machining. They are more "squared off" than your typical lowers but everything is a really nice spec.:smokin:
